For thinking it may be one thing too much for my poor friend?

I have a friend staying from London (she's in the bath - not ignoring her) - she's having an emotional crisis with her busy city job and hectic social life , and has come to Talk Things Through.

She likes my children, but is a little bit squeamish of kids in general. My dd1 has picked up on this, and on my friends revulsion of her chicken pox covered body - which is it think why she presented her with a shoe box with a small scab in and told her it was a present. {friend went pale} Dd2 keeps running at her with the potty to show off every time she uses it {friend visibly wretched at this mornings poo}

Washed my hair today, and found...nits! Oh dear. Nitty gritted myself thoroughly, and serrupticiously examined dds.

Do i tell, or hope that i've got them in time? She'll freak, honestly.

She's top friend, but I'm pleased for Boco that she's gone now. Next time, you go visit her alone and ride up and down the escalators in Selfridges and try on perfume. Lots of time to Talk Things Through then.

Boco · 25/05/2007 23:00

God isnt' that awful. Before children it was all about Talking Things Through - all the time. I don't feel fulfilled in my job, is DP The One? I need more shoes, I need to talk about me more etc etc. We did it all the time, while drinking alot.

Now, I can't actually finish a sentence,- either the children interrupt or i'm so tired i forget what i'm saying half way through.

Soon my revolted friends will stop coming to stay due to the high risk of nits or being presented with scabs in boxes, and then when they're bigger and i need to Talk Things Through, then what?? Eh? Hundred? Then what?

Yes that is true. I suppose that now 90% of past obsessions and anxieties seem a bit silly, hence the lack of patience with friends going through life wobbles.

twentypence · 26/05/2007 09:40

She won't actually know she has nits though if she gets an itchy head. It's the sort of thing you only know if you have kids. Probably seeing a specialist in Harley street as we speak.

Boco · 26/05/2007 10:04

oh god that's so true!

I am a bad friend.

FrannyandZooey · 26/05/2007 10:08

I think you should have told her.

FrannyandZooey · 26/05/2007 10:17

I would have done if you had asked me. You were skulking behind the bike sheds with the big girls, sniggering. Next time come to my office.

ahundredtimes · 26/05/2007 10:17

Too true Boco. Franny wasn't there at the time because she was arsing about in the dorm and trying to seduce Alicia.
I am right (always). If you're feeling bad send her an email saying you just found a nit, and you're sure she's fine but just to let her know. Also all friends will be there to Talk Things Through if you do the escalator thing until Friend has children. God bless her.

FrannyandZooey · 26/05/2007 10:18

I would phone her even now, aactually. "Just found a couple of lice in the kids' hair - you'd better check yours out - do you know where to get a nit comb?"

FrannyandZooey · 26/05/2007 10:19

I was NOT

that was a different night entirely. Boco's friend was long gone on her louse-ridden way by then,

ahundredtimes · 26/05/2007 10:19

email franny, is safer that way.

ahundredtimes · 26/05/2007 10:21

F&Z - I lay in bed last night roaring with laughter. dh quite disturbed and even though I tried, he just didn't understaaand.

FrannyandZooey · 26/05/2007 10:23

100x it was a good one. MrsC stamping her foot and saying she would alert Mamzelle was my favourite part

FrannyandZooey · 26/05/2007 10:24

Dp has given up with me

if I come to bed after midnight and start giggling in the dark he just lies there stiffly and says "if it is something to do with Mumsnet I DON'T want to know"

LittleMissPositive · 26/05/2007 10:32

hehehe she sounds like a right hoot. You cannot tell her! I agree with anchovy - blame her if she calls saying she has them!

FrannyandZooey · 26/05/2007 10:36

Boco I Accuse You

of using your friend for comedy purposes

of infesting her with lice

and

of not telling her.

You've not put this thread in Chat, either. It'll still be sitting here in 5 years time when she produces her first child and stumbles across Mumsnet. How she'll laugh to read about herself.

Boco · 26/05/2007 10:47

Well yes, i'm can take that, you're probably right, i did desperately need some comedy on that first morning when friend kept quivering and wretching and then hid in the bathroom for hours.

If i infested her it was not deliberate. I think i may text her and say i found a nit.

Franny i feel like you just gave me a really [hard stare] and i feel forlorn.

Boco · 26/05/2007 10:48

And what on earth are 100 and F&Z talking about dorms and Alicia?

FrannyandZooey · 26/05/2007 10:49

sorry but someone had to piss on your bonfire

you and 100x were just getting over-excited and spoiling it for everyone else

now would you like to come and piss about on the Malory Towers thread? I can bump it for you

FrannyandZooey · 26/05/2007 10:50

it is called "Franny is the new Fanny" for some reason

crunchie · 26/05/2007 12:04

perspnally I think if she din't et that close to your kids she hasn't go them

I am aso assuming as a London girl she dyes her hair and quite possibly uses straighteners, well nit don't like those either

They are in fact my REALLY mature way of making sure I don't have the buggers, or if dd's get them I straighten my hair a few times over a few days and I must either fry them out or just don't get them

Boco · 26/05/2007 17:07

Crunchie, that gives a whole new meaning to your name!

ahundredtimes · 26/05/2007 22:16

I wasn't THAT excited honestly. I was wise and fair.
