It’s nearly 1a.m. right now and one of the flats in my building is making a fuck ton of noise. They’re in a ground floor flat, they’re all outside yell-talking and having a noughties rnb singalong session.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a bit of Alicia Keys as much as the next person, but even with all my windows shut (which I don’t much wanna do as my flat is roasting hot) I can still hear everything loud and clear, even with earplugs in. It’s like trying to fall asleep in a karaoke bar.

I’m too chicken shit to go downstairs and ask them to pipe the fuck down as there’s about 20 of them and one of me, and there’s no way they could possibly believe that their music/noise isn’t loud enough to disturb the people around them, so they clearly just don’t give a shit.

Did a bit more investigating and found an out of hours number, called it and logged the noise... she said it was unlikely that they would be out to investigate it before they go off duty at 2 A.M.

My neighbour used to have parties and sing Adele really loudly at 1am on a Sunday.

I would just shove some headphones in and ignore it unless they are brawling in the street.

LighthouseSouth · 24/06/2018 10:42

sorry OP

what happened?

I think last night was a killer and sorry to say tonight will be similar with football. hot weather brings out the noise makers.

Are you in touch with any of your neighbours? If you have anyone's number then for the future you could agree to go out and scream at them to STFU as a group.

Wildlingofthewest · 24/06/2018 10:43

The police don’t come out for noise complaints.
It’s the weekend.
Unless it’s a regular occurrence then just live and let live!
At least they weren’t fighting or being abusive.

RestingBitchFaced · 24/06/2018 13:14

I would shout out the window if you didn't want to go down

JellyBears · 24/06/2018 13:19

For next time, have you a balcony? I live on the first floor and Last summer some people were having a bbq etc which was fine but when they were still talking loudly at 2 am I just shouted from the balcony please be quite it’s 2am....they said ok haha problem over.

The police do attend for noise complaints. I called 101 regularly on my ridiculous upstairs neighbors who would party until 5am on weekends and weekdays. Police attended even on weekends. One of the officers told me that if it continues they will begin to confiscate phones/speakers until they stop. Didn’t make a blind bit of difference in my case. The only thing that did was going out in the hall and telling them repeatedly to fuck off until they did. Even then it would be the same the next night. I was so stressed by it I moved.
