To say 8.30pm is too late to cut the hedge?!

Dh has been cutting our hedges for nearly 2 hours. Its really noisy. We don't have any immediate neighbours but the village houses are just across a field. I've just told him he should stop as it's getting late and it's noisy and antisocial. He's hurt and affronted as he thinks he's doing an amazing job cutting the hedge.

AIBU??

TBH it sounds like you're far enough away from other houses for him to be fine for another half an hour.

Would be too late for a built up area though.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 23/06/2018 20:34

Across a field? He’s fine!

Gretol · 23/06/2018 20:36

Damn. The noise is really getting on my nerves Grin

You are right. Noise carries, even across a field.

And he should stop if it spoils your peaceful evening!

DuchyDuke · 23/06/2018 20:39

It’s not too late for a built up area either. Just invest in some earplugs

Gretol · 23/06/2018 20:39

I want to sit in the garden with a glass of wine! I'm hiding upstairs in case he asks.me to clear up the cuttings

It’s Saturday night. Pour him a glass of wine and tell him to finish it tomorrow. Time to chill. Xxx

Gretol · 23/06/2018 20:41

He's totally in the zone. He's now also sulking as I haven't admired his impressive hedge

I don’t think 8.30 is too late for a housing estate really. It’s still light outside.

resignedtoresigning · 23/06/2018 20:44

This has just reminded me of the time DH decided to sand the adjoining wall with a belt sander when we lived in a terrace. At 6am. The neighbour hammered on the door and started shouting at the same time I flew out of bed thinking the house was falling down. DH was perplexed he'd woken us both up as apparently 'its not that loud' Grin.

I think 8.30 is fine btw (Sorry!)

Gretol · 23/06/2018 20:51

He's stopped. He's doing sulky raking now.

Get him on the wine, sneak out and cut a cockerel into the hedge Grin
