I have a breast pump for sale, so knew I might have some weird responses but this really did confuse me.

Man called whilst I was in the Drs surgery sounded very professional in his approach like he worked in a call centre. My immediate thought was that he was going to try and persuade me to advertise elsewhere. In fact he wanted to know how big the bit you put your boob into is as his wife is very large chested. I said sorry can you call back in an hour or so when I'm home & I'll take a look at the box for you.

He phoned back precisely an hour later and spoke to me for a further 15 minutes about the size of his wife's boobs, areoles, how she'd been intimidated by a man in a waiting room & didn't want to BF in public anymore. He kept on about how big her boobs were, asked me how big mine were Confused apologised when I wasn't keen to answer!!! I gave him advice to pass on about how to use the pump, reassured him that all the instructions were included & gave him details of some local BF support groups and said he could have a microwave steriliser FOC.

He wanted to come & collect it after work, said that he worked nearby & would be about 6. Thanked me for all my help, then said he would text me for my address. I knew I'd never hear from him again before I put the phone down. WTF??!!!

If you're still wanting to sell it why not ask your hv, local bf support groups if they know of anyone might be interested?

If you can afford to could you donate it to a bf group?

Monty27 · 22/06/2018 00:35

Ugh. A second hand breast pump anyone? Ewwww.

Ractify · 22/06/2018 03:12

Monty27 - you do realise that hospital grade breast pumps are rented out by Maternity hospitals, and any breast pump should be sterilised thoroughly so renting isn't an issue? The 'Ewwww' reaction is uncalled for.

Laurel543 · 22/06/2018 03:46

I have just hired a breast pump.

They have been designed so that the main pump itself never touches milk (unless you are doing something very odd with it). All of the parts that collect and store the milk (bottles, tubes, connectors etc) are disposable and of course the next person should buy their own set.

Sorry SundayGirls but to throw out a whole pump because if contamination fears is simply ill informed and wasteful.

Laurel543 · 22/06/2018 03:48

Unless you’re talking about a hand pump maybe?
Sorry for derail OP!

NoFucksImAQueen · 22/06/2018 05:46

grow up monty

Skittlesandbeer · 22/06/2018 06:13

Although it’s pretty likely you’ve had an encounter with ‘the weird side’, I have to tell you that my brother (father to a week old baby, his first) is having these conversations with loads of people selling baby gear online near us this week. He is very keen, and determined to be a great modern dad.

It’s kinda sweet, and def pretty funny. He lost me a bit when he began mansplaining breastfeeding to a group of visitors- all women with children. He even ‘walked us through’ a couple of diagrams Shock

I think your dude has given you a hilarious anecdote to take with you in life...

ConciseandNice · 22/06/2018 06:30

You do get different sized (funnels?) attachments for different sizes breasts. What is standard may not fit this guys wife in which case he should be contacted ting medela or whichever directly. I wouldn’t necessarily think he was perving!!!

ConciseandNice · 22/06/2018 06:30

That said she should’ve made the call so maybe you’re right!

matchingpjs · 22/06/2018 06:54

When I was young and selling my first house I advertised the house in the local paper ( quite common then in the 80's)
A guy phoned and asked what sort of shops were nearby as he was a rep for a lingerie company and would need to make contact with local shops. I went on to answer his questions about did they sell stockings or tights, which did I personally prefer and wear!!! I was so keen to get him to view the house that I babbled on even once I sort of twigged he was a perve. Anyway he made an date to come and view and I then became terrified he'd show up so phoned the police. A community officer arrived at the time he was due and sat with me. He didnt turn up!
So your WTF is there are numerous perverts out there

PattiStanger · 22/06/2018 07:12

That's pretty obviously some pervert getting his jollies.

Don't let it put you off trying to sell the pump, just don't put your phone number on the advert.

TheLionRoars1110 · 22/06/2018 07:47

Ewwww horrid man!
Don't let it put you off selling your pump. I see lots for sale on the local mum's forum and they seem to go quickly.

calamariqueen · 22/06/2018 08:31

Haha! Yeah obviously I am that naive Grin I think it's funny though. I'll chat on about BF'ing to anyone as I had a bloody nightmare & hate the thought of anyone struggling.

It's a hand pump that completely dismantles so the whole thing can be sterilised- there's no risk to the next user. Good idea about getting in touch with a BF support group as whilst entertaining, don't think I wanna waste my time like that again!!

Skittles is your brother looking for a breast pump by any chance? 😉

MorningsEleven · 22/06/2018 09:04

at least he doesn't have your address

Just her phone number! I hope you've blocked his number queen unless you're considering a new career chatting to pervs.

calamariqueen · 22/06/2018 09:20

Reckon it would definitely pay better than my real job if it was done through official channels Grin

Fortunately number is hidden, there's just a call the seller button. I won't be accepting any further unknown numbers- everyone else can just email!!

Still can't wrap my head around it, BF'ing was the most unsexy thing I've ever done!!

SundayGirls · 22/06/2018 16:50

Concise - he asked what size the OPs boobs are!! Any guy who is considerate enough to ring up about a breast pump on behalf of his partner is likely to also be too considerate enough not to ask an unnecessary (and pervy, in most peoples eyes) question about the sellers breast size!

Tink2007 · 22/06/2018 16:53

Oooh this reminds me of the time I was selling some maternity underwear I hadn’t worn on eBay. Someone messaged me and asked if they were brand new which they were and they replied that they would prefer it if I wore them first!

Forgottencoffee · 28/06/2018 17:17

My mum has just had the same phone call about a breast pump she is selling for my sister! When she started telling me about this “weird call she had had” I thought immediately of this thread!

ALongHardWinter · 28/06/2018 17:56

I think the fact that he asked you how big your boobs were confirms that he is a perv!

calamariqueen · 28/06/2018 18:03

No way @Forgottencoffee !!! Did she get the same weird man following wife around a waiting room story?? Just some weirdo doing the rounds Confused
