Apart from the kids was crack, it's basically a firm fannypack that they sit on when you're carrying them on your hip so they don't slip, I have one from etsy and it actually saves my back a bit when dd decides it's a being a limpet day

RockinHippy · 21/06/2018 21:52

I had one of those for DD when small, it was an absolute godsend for my knackered back. Puts the weight all into your legs. I highly recommend

TheCheeseStandsAlone · 21/06/2018 21:52

What @smiler1972 said.

It’s basically ‘elimination communication’.

BeijingBarbie · 21/06/2018 21:52

I lived in China and most toddler clothes are split as they stop wearing nappies very young.

outofmydepth45 · 21/06/2018 21:52

Oh you learn something new everyday!

OutingMyDog · 21/06/2018 21:53

I really wanted that to be a potty/bum bag hybrid.

Wellthisunexpected · 21/06/2018 21:53

Those saying why is it potentially upsetting, there was a thread on here a while ago with a picture of a kid in a nappy and people went crazy about how it was abusive, upsetting and wrong-headed I didn't agree but I wanted to warn those of a sensitive disposition.

Didn't see the other thread.

They’re Chinese potty training pants.

Butterflykissess · 21/06/2018 21:53

cant see an issue?

DaisysStew · 21/06/2018 21:53

It’s an odd photo but “potentially upsetting”? Really? My sons always got his arse out, I’m not in need of therapy because of it (yet Grin).

crunchtime · 21/06/2018 21:54

It's a hip seat. It makes carrying toddlers much easier. I used one a lot when my backnowledged was bad and I had a baby.

allthatmalarkey · 21/06/2018 21:55

Ok, fair enough. I have a seat like this and it was fantastic. I have a bad back and couldn't get on with a sling. Strapped round my hips it put my DC's weight in exactly the right place. Hippy chick hipseat.

MyOtherUsernameisaPun · 21/06/2018 21:56

I don't want to be unkind but you must be of an extraordinarily delicate disposition if a toddler's bum is upsetting Grin

Cultural differences, eh? What's weird to us is normal to others, that's just the way the world is!

OutingMyDog · 21/06/2018 21:57

That is such a good idea actually. I wish I'd had one when DD was little.

MadRainbow · 21/06/2018 21:57

I have seen this ad and yes that is a bare bottom - pretty sure they are the split trousers that are found in China, more of a custom in rural villages and be coming rarer since China allowed the sale of disposable nappies

Wellthisunexpected · 21/06/2018 21:58

@MyOtherUsernameisaPun I don't find it upsetting. But some people are weird. I did 8 years in child protection, not much upsets me.

Quartz2208 · 21/06/2018 22:00

Surely it’s a strap

PickwickThePlockingDodo · 21/06/2018 22:02

I had to brace myself for this thinking 'oh god, not some child or animal in some terrible situation, shall I look or not?'

I was exactly the same Grin

hididdlyhoneighborino · 21/06/2018 22:10

Why is this so funny?!

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 21/06/2018 22:14

It’s a hippy chic type seat, plus naked toddler arse. It’d make me do a double take, but I’d have known it was normal in China.

dontbesillyhenry · 21/06/2018 22:22

Ehhhhhhhh?Confused

Ang69 · 21/06/2018 22:23

It’s a strap, you can see the woman holding it.

busybarbara · 21/06/2018 22:23

Look up en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open-crotch_pants - it's the same thing. A good idea really, lets them just do a quick wee somewhere discreetly.

AnalUnicorn · 21/06/2018 22:25

Good grief. Give me strength. Why is everyone so sensitive ?

Quittingthyme · 21/06/2018 22:29

Split trousers are standard in Chinese society.

You can let go of those pearls now
