To be pissed off at the return of AF

Nooooooooo just went to the loo and discovered my period is back less than 5 months after having baby. Last time I was blissfully period free for 14 months. Both babies EBF. Sad times.

Curious to know how long others went before AF reared her ugly head again?

6 weeks after. Finished lochia bleeding, then BAM! straight into my period. Feels like a massive piss take, my babies were ivf and I can’t seem to fall pregnant naturally, so what’s the point body?!

Touchmybum · 21/06/2018 17:10

I had a wonderful 19 months after having my 3rd baby.... but I was 40 when he was born, 42 when I stopped breastfeeding. Periods came back as normal for a while and had petered out by 46. I guess I was very lucky to have DS at all!

DustyMaiden · 21/06/2018 17:24

6 Weeks with all four, didn't even know that was the norm.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/06/2018 17:29

10.5 months after my daughter was born. I was breastfeeding but she'd been on solids as well for quite a while by then. I can be that precise because many, many weeks went by after that with no further period. I wasn't surprised as I'd never had regular periods. Then I started feeling rather sick and couldn't think why. Yes, I was pregnant! 19 month gap between the two. I was amazed and delighted as it took nearly two years to get pregnant the first time and I'd been expecting similar the second time.

However, if you're not planning a short gap don't forget about contraception now. (It's rather a drastic way of postponing the return of periods for a bit longer, but I must say I was delighted that after that one solitary period it must have been well over 18 months before I had another one.)

I thought this thread was about AnyFucker. Was on to say targeting someone isn't nice Smile

But yes I'm with you! Over a year and my cool makes my periods all over the place - every two weeks then a few days, then a week off and then a week with it on etc.

Not fun.

DrWhy · 21/06/2018 17:31

6 weeks after - straight from the end of the lochia. DS was ebf and certainly didn’t sleep through the night. I’m jealous of the 5 months!

NotAnotherNoughtiesTune · 21/06/2018 17:33

Oh and first was on implant after 9 weeks so not sure. Second was 14 months.

IsItThatTimeAlready131 · 21/06/2018 17:40

I think you're lucky OP. I have had 4 children and after giving birth each time bled for about 6 weeks and periods were back to normal after that, EBF all 4 and was hoping to get some respite from AF but it never happened. 😕 in fact, with DS4 had a period for a week (not just 4 or 5 days) every other week for about 6 months.

Making the most of the mini pill finally helping with stopping periods for the last 5 months after being on it for most of the last 17 years. Smile

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 21/06/2018 17:46

Mine was a couple of months. Due to pcos they came bk worse than prepreg too.

mindutopia · 21/06/2018 17:50

I feel ya. Mine came back last month at 3 months pp. Ds is ebf, never even so much as had a bottle of expressed milk! I thought I’d have at least a year. Also took an ovulation test exactly 14 days later and I’m ovulating right on schedule. I could not have gotten my coil inserted fast enough!

Ansumpasty · 21/06/2018 17:51

8 months- EBF

BMW6 · 21/06/2018 17:53

I also thought you meant anyfucker and was going to post how very dare you!!!

Monkeypuzzle32 · 21/06/2018 17:55

I’m totally with you on that feeling, mine was 4 months after a mix of BF & FF, being pregnant was bliss compared to AF!

blackteasplease · 21/06/2018 17:57

I thought you meant anyfucker too!

Squelchsquerch · 21/06/2018 19:45

Sorry for any offence caused AnyFucker! but please explain, why is AnyFucker so notorious?

OP posts:
pinkbobbles · 21/06/2018 19:45

Because she’s lovely Smile

She's a regular poster, that's all. There's no inside joke going on or anything.

AnyFucker · 21/06/2018 19:56

No offence taken Smile

Every time I see "AF" I get a jolt but tbh, the only place I have ever known periods to bw called AF is here on MN

I just have a sweary nickname, that's all. And have been around these parts since forever.

Squelchsquerch · 21/06/2018 20:13

Ha. I don't ever use the term AF in real life. Was just trying to get down with the Mumsnet lingo.

Mildpanic · 21/06/2018 20:15

10 weeks here every single time (3 dc ) all exclusive, constant BF. Not fair!

Serafinaaa · 22/06/2018 11:13

3.5 years when I went on the combined pill againShock

Sassypants82 · 22/06/2018 11:16

On my second period & DD is 15 mnts, almost, but she's feeding less than before.

mostdays · 22/06/2018 11:18

My period didn't come back for ages with ds1 and ds2, but 6 weeks or so after ds3's birth I had a period (I actually thought it was lochia starting back up and got a bit worried until it became obvious it was just my stupid sodding period). All EBF so I don't know why things were different with him!

wheezing · 22/06/2018 11:25

19 months here
