i woke up this morning and checked my account. there was a large sum of money missing from my account. i checked my pending transactions and noticed it was taken from something ive never even heard of. I immediately called the bank but as its pending they said it has to leave my account before i can get a refund. now got no bank card and no money to get to the bank to withdraw anything. cant believe this has happened. never even heard of this site! also cant find my passport and the bank are really funny about letting anyone withdraw money from the bank without id (ive been refused before.) cant see why the bank didnt block the transaction. its a big sum of money.

Have you bought a new laptop recently? I bought one a couple of months ago and as it was loading for the first time all sorts of things came up that one clicks yes to on autopilot. One of those things was a free trial of the professional version of Dropbox, but I noticed in time to stop my itchy finger from twitching. I use the free version, so don't need a trial of the pro version.

Actually Apple Pay does work even if a card is cancelled - this happened to me recently when there was an attempted fraud on my account & Santander cancelled the card.

TheEmmaDilemma · 21/06/2018 12:48

Dropbox is defo legit. I use it, 16.99 a month. A huge amout of money coming out for that would be weird to me though unless it's paying for a year upfront.

When you say large? How much?

DerelictWreck · 21/06/2018 12:51

Dropbox is legit as others have said but doesn't operate in large amounts of money for personal use, so would be weird if they have taken more than £50?

sexnotgender · 21/06/2018 12:53

It depends whether your contactless card is online or offline. If your card is offline then contactless will still work even if the card is cancelled. And the transaction amount needs to be under the floor limit.

Sounds like the annual cost of a Dropbox business account.

Butterflykissess · 21/06/2018 13:45

We had similar on our joint account, some how they had my card details through a company called liveglam who I had a subscription with.
They spent a fortune! Now we only have £100 in our main account and the rest in our savings account and transfer it when needed.

Namechangedforthispost18 · 21/06/2018 14:54

All our charges were wiped and companies understood, don't worry. Flowers

Auldspinster · 21/06/2018 15:09

The bank should refund or waive any charges. If you have bills with the payee's bank details they can do a faster payment.

DerelictWreck · 21/06/2018 18:56

Your direct debits won't be affected - it's your card thats been cancelled not your account.

Even if they were or you went into your overdraft in this situation, the bank will waive the charges if you ask as it's not your doing.
