Anyone else wish sex was not so graphic on TV?

I miss the old Hollywood films where they would kiss and then just fade out. You knew what was going to happen, but didn't see it. Now we see totally simulated sex. And I wish we didn't.

I would suggest you don't watch Sense8 on Netflix!

There's a lot of sex in that, but, because of the themes in the show, it doesn't seem to gratuitous and it's definitely not just about boobs and naked women.

Most other programmes and films make me cringe a bit with it though.

Binge watched Narcos over last few days. Sex scenes are hilarious. Women bouncing around on dongs complete with full asthmatic gasping. Poor actresses.

In a film I don't mind, there's a rating so I know what's coming (ouch)

So I avoid violence because it's not for me and for sexual content I don't mind in a film so much, but I can make sure I'm not with my Dad/FIL all awkwardly trying to pretend we're not watching together or feeling awkward, or with young people still a bit too young who I can't awkwardly shush out of the room.

On television, I wish they'd stop because this is exactly what happens!

I agree in that often it has absolutely fuck all to do with the story, it's as if they've gone "ooh we can shove some sex in there!"

I'm not a prude by any means but it all seems so unnecessary. What's wrong with it being implied? Why does it have to be everything they can get away with?

I don't need to see soft porn on TV.

For most of my life I've enjoyed a bit of soft porn on tv. I suspect more than half the population feels the same way, and that's why it's there. But I admit that recently I've been slightly irritated by the interruption to the story, and wished they'd gloss over it and get on with the plot. Maybe I should go to my GP and report a malfunction in my sex drive.

I agree that it's annoying when female nudity is shoehorned in when it is totally irrelevant to the plot. But if there is sex in the plot anyway I don't really care if there's a flash of boob.

I’d watch a sex scene over gratuitous violence any day of the week. A boob never hurt anybody.

Mostly there is no need for it, especially where it's usually a couple just very suddenly start tearing each other's clothes off and look like they are trying to devour each other's head, never mind face! Then they slam against a wall or worktop.
It's done for titillation.

I love a bit of dirty sex between two good looking consenting actors. It brightens up the plot line!

I wish they weren't so flipping unrealistic! They make it look like sex is all about swinging from the chandeliers having a wild, passionate time, with lovely pert boobs and six packs. Does anyone honestly have sex like that in real life?? I'm sure it must make some people feel really discontent with their bodies/sex lives. Reality is much more Barry and Freda than "The Tudors" in my experience!

I had to give up on sens8te, because of the sex. Which is a shame because the concept was really interesting.

It takes too long... hurry up and develop the plot for goodness sake.
