The original old style piriton should be ok. Try a diff pharmacy as that doesn’t sound right

PrincessConsuelaBannanaHammock · 18/06/2018 19:48

That's the same advice I was given by my GP. She said there are some things that may be ok but there isn't enough research for her to be sure so I can only take nasal spray & as I also have asthma have to double my inhalers for now to help combat wheezing Sad

tealandteal · 18/06/2018 19:50

No one has tested them on pregnant/breastfeeding mothers so they can't say 100% they are OK.

I was told this... Listened and nose spray was ridiculous and didn't work and I started having massive nose bleeds, onto hayfever tablets now, they apparently lower supply but I'm hoping not too much!

Justanewname · 18/06/2018 19:52

I would avoid the old style piriton. It is more sedating and risks making your baby more sleepy which could make them not feed as much and so affect your supply. They are also not safe for cosleeping because you could be drowsier than usual.

If you choose to take an antihistamine it’s loratidine or cetirizine you want to go for.

I took them and was fine- as another poster mentioned it’s because they haven’t been tested not because they failed a test.

It's many years since I was at the breastfeeding stage, but I'm pretty sure that I had to give up hay fever tablets and just use eye drops.

thanks i need something as i stayed in today just to avoid it :( my nose throat and eyes are so itchy. its like being allergic to the outside! makes summer very miserable. baby is 13 months now but feeds non stop.
