...to let the DCs stay up to watch the football!?

They are 6 and 4. Neither manage well the next day when tired and lack of sleep! Both have school/nursery tomorrow! DC 6 has a cold!

But ... they'll b in bed by 8:45 / 9 right? (Usual bedtime 7:30 - 8)

It's a once every 4 years thing!

I'm going to let them stay up! Curry for dinner then pjamma and Football evening! Maybe some popcorn!

Can't wait!! (Sorry teachers tomorrow Sad they will be grumpy!)

Come on England!!!!!!!!

DW and I had a wonderful reminisce last night, watching the match of DSs - aged 6 - excitement in 2002. (I appear to have something in my eye).

We let ours stay up last night. The 5 year old lost interest very early on and made the most of me being distracted to go to bed witht he iPad...

The 2 year old didn't have a clue but enjoyed joining in with the shouting! T hen fell asleep on my brother's lap and slept through the last minute winner!

I have a long way to go to turn these boys into real fans... Wink

DS 5 stayed up and watched it in my bed. He kept saying 'this is boring', and was grateful when it was over so he could go to sleep! Grin

My 5yo DS watched it too. Asked him if he thinks England are going to win the cup and he said no France are. Grin

My 8 yo stayed up and we were all jumping round the room with the last goal!
Took a while for him to calm down and drop off to sleep but like you said it's every four years!

Mine are 7 & 8 and they loved staying up to watch it. It’s not every night and I don’t think the odd late night will do them any harm. I think most of the kids in their classes watched it too.

We usually let DS1 stay up to watch Champions League games if our team is playing. Can’t see the harm really.

Haven’t watched much of the World Cup yet, bar Spain and Portugal’s game.

We always let ours stay up and I have happy memories of being allowed to stay up in 1966 and then in the two following years for the European Cup Finals.

My favourite bit about the World Cup is hearing my dad's story about watching the 66 final. Go for it.

As adults, we make the decision to have children that makes us permanently tired, so you're just giving your kids practical experience of that :D
