To go to a concert on my own?

I want to say 'gig' but am probably showing my age - it's Hyde Park 'British Summer Time'. I've never considered going to something like that alone, but I really, really want to go, and don't know anyone who likes the band in question (except one friend, who's away).

Have you ever done similar? Would you? OH thinks it's risky, but I disagree - it's not as if he's telling me not to go, but I'd be interested in other opinions.

I do it all the time, I'm going to a gig on my own on Friday. I stay in the closest hotel I can find and have never had any problems or felt unsafe.

When you are on your own, you can usually get closer to the front. People assume you are re-joining your partner or group after a pee.

You can NEVER do that if you are with someone. I went to Glastonbury on my own, - that's how I know.... Grin

Is there a Cure fan page? I follow some dodgy bands and there’s usually a post or 2 asking who’s going and where they are meeting up.

You could then meet up with them as and when you wanted to during the day? If you don’t like them you can always accidentally lose them in the crowd.

I travelled to Germany to meet a load of randoms I met on a fan page and had a great time. Made a couple of good friends.

I agree with Fa get the closet hotel so you don’t have to rely on anyone or anything to get yourself back.

I've been to a couple and really enjoyed it. You end up making friends in the queue/crowd anyway.

You'll have a lovely time. Stick some emergency cash in your bra, make sure your phone has full battery, and wear comfortable shoes!

BST is run really well - absolutely tonnes of bars and plenty of seating areas so everyone’s relaxed, enjoying themselves and very friendly (in my experience anyway) - therefore, a great event to go to on your own!

Plus, in the unlikely event that you find you’re not enjoying yourself, you can just leave (bet you’ll love it though!).

I've done it. Last time I went to Foo Fighters with my DH and honestly I'd have preferred to have gone alone! lol

I have been to gigs on my own. It's fun and you always get to talk to people. GO GO GO and have fun.
