I am just about done with my cover letter but there is just one thing I want to include and I am not sure how. I am applying for an estate agent job and want to say something about how I am looking forward to meeting new people and dealing with customers.

That's one of the main reasons why I am appyling to this job. In my current job I was pretty lonely and did not have much human contact on the daily basis. Any tips how to include this in my Cover Letter?

Please quick answers as I would like to apply by this evening.

Thanks guys !!!

Have you worked in customer-facing roles before? If you have, I’d say something to the effect that you have a strong background in customer service and that you enjoy using your inter-personal skills to meet and exceed your customers’ expectations while achieving your business objectives. Give it some fine tuning, put it in your own way, but try not to overthink it.

Good luck!

"I enjoy helping customers" ?

TillyRoseM · 17/06/2018 20:01

'I enjoy helping customers.' Sound very plain. And as I mentioned I worked on my own for 6 years so yeah I can't say I have any experience with facing customers.

What I would want them to understand is that I achieved everything I could in my current job and been feeling very lonely in my role for some time now. That's why I'm looking forward to have and deal with people at work.

I like the inter personal skill thought @PavlovianLunge. I try to work it in my cover letter 😊 Thank you !

Looking forward to being able to utilise my interpersonal skills in this customer facing role?

mumonashoestring · 17/06/2018 20:40

I have excellent interpersonal skills and have always thrived in client facing roles, as well as in roles where I can contribute to a wider team on a daily basis.

Or something...

I think this is the kind of thing I think you need to handle with a very light touch. They will look for two things - skills and motivation. Over-emphasising the fact that you haven’t had much contact with people in your current or previous role might raise worries about your customer service skills. If you’re going to do it, make it as positive as possible - you really enjoy working with peoples and that’s the thing you’re most excited about in this potential new role. Absolutely do not talk about feeling lonely or isolated in the past. That kind of thing is really off-putting.

Myotherusernameisbest · 17/06/2018 20:48

I shouldn't worry about not having any customer service experience. None of the estate agents I've ever met seem to have this skill so pretty sure it's not a requirement GrinGrinGrin

But on a serious note I'd go with just saying something like you thrive when working in a busy customer facing environment and feel this role suits your skills and ambitions.

Good luck!

I think the covering letter should be about what you will bring to the job. Looking forward to meeting new people is not a skill. In fact, it might portray you as just using the job for a social environment. Every word of a covering letter needs impact.

Insertquirkyname · 17/06/2018 20:51

WHat about “I would love the opportunity to fulfil this customer facing role as it encompasses my strengths in building new relationships and projecting the ethos and brand. I believe word of mouth referral is the best advert for this business and I strive to achieve a positive interaction with each and every customer.”

Thank you so much for the great suggestions. Fingers crossed I can land the interview (and the job 😂😄)
