AIBU to ask if anyone is flying to Johannesburg from London in the next few hours?

Really hoping for a Good Samaritan from the wonderful forces of Mumsnet! My 23 year old daughter, who should know better, left the UK 2 days ago and flew to Kenya. She has just flown on to Johannesburg and been refused entry because she hasn't got proof of yellow fever vaccination, although she has been vaccinated. We are currently driving to the GP to collect a duplicate, but it needs to get to Johannesburg within 24 hours or they will deport her back to Nairobi. I just wondered if anyone was flying out there in the next few hours and would be kind enough to take it? We live near London and could easily get it to any airport. We don't think we can use a commercial courier as we don't think they would get it there in time. Or if anyone else had any ideas, we'd be very grateful! Thank you so much!

How very dare you. I'm rather tall.

Candyflip · 17/06/2018 07:00

Ok, maybe then. I’ll think about it.

@japanesegarden, kids eh! She's learnt a life lesson and you sound like an awesome mum!

FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 17/06/2018 07:11

Is do something like that now and phone my mum in hysterics and I'm 32!

Well done on raising such calm, mature, self sufficient children Candyflip!

Candyflip · 17/06/2018 07:18

Thanks. It is going to benefit them greatly.

Clubcuts · 17/06/2018 07:53

@Candyflip I don't think so, I think it'll most likely have a detrimental effect. It would appear on this thread however that your parenting style is not popular .... phew!!

catinboots9 · 17/06/2018 09:08

😘😍 right back at ya @Candyflip

catinboots9 · 17/06/2018 09:10

HmmHmm

catinboots9 · 17/06/2018 09:12

@Candyflip and her kids have clearly got life nailed 👏🏻👏🏻

Shame on the rest of us normal people

Well I travelled extensively alone from the age of 14 and I would have called home hysterically if that had happened to me too. Hope she’s back home safely now.

It’s not over-mothering them, it’s giving them the confidence that whatever happens it can be sorted out.

TisNowt · 17/06/2018 09:50

Not sure why some posters have to be so pompous and sharp. The OP was clearly only asking for practical help not for feedback on her daughter.

I’m glad I’m not someone who get their kicks by making unwanted snidey comments. It’s pathetic.

What a worry and a panic, hope you are ok op, our children are always our children regardless of how old they are. It was good that you were there for her and you tried your best to help, I would have done exactly the same thing. I hope everything goes smoothly going forward.
