A load of trite shit, right? Or AIBU? And I feel targeted at women (plastered everywhere in Oliver Bonas-type shops) and all over the place in women’s magazines shopping pages/interiors

How do you find a balance between being kind and being a doormat?

Being kind is not the same as being a doormat.
You can be assertive and kind. Being a doormat is not being kind because it is allowing someone to abuse or take advantage of you.
The kind thing to do there is to not tolerate it for your and their sake.

Agree, @gottagetmoving. It’s about being self assured and confident.

A small act of kindness can absolutely make my day. I try to do at least one kind thing daily (usually an angry seething nihilist so trying to change).
