Im in tears here. Full hysterectomy eight days ago. Was in for a week as my bladder has been damaged. Home with a catheter. I am a nurse.

Went to get the rest of my stitches out. Im moving slowly and painfully. Not once did the practice nurse offer her arm to get me on off the bed. I noticed this in hospital as well so it must be a thing these days.

Anyway, my dresssing was due to come off but she said there was a small area with steri strips on which still needs covering so i have two square dressings on. She said they arent waterproof so not to get showered. I could cry my hair is minging. I just wanted to try and get in the shower on my own and wash my hair. I asked why not water proof? She said they are too big. Err, whats wrong with scissors?

You can buy tegaderm on amazon, I bought some when I had a gallbladder drain in situ for 6 weeks and needed to shower!

I’ve used the spare ones to cover up a hole in the wall in our shower/bath where a pumped shower was taken out when our boiler was redone and revealed the plasterboard behind. Still going strong after 3 months!

That dressing looks like Opsite border, or Opsite adhesive, you can ask the pharmacist for some, they often have packets opened so you can buy a few or it comes in boxes.

EachandEveryone, afraid I have nothing helpful to add- but my goodness! You have really been through the mill! Hoping you heal soon and that everything goes well with the dye test 💐

When I had spinal surgery I couldn't bend or get the incision wet for 2 weeks )I think). My hair was gross after 5 days and I couldn't stand it any longer.
I lay flat on my back on the bed with my head hanging over the side of the bed. My DH washed it in a washing up bowl using a jug for me. It was quick but did the trick Flowers
