To decline christening invitation

Dp, dd and I have been invited to a christening. It's two hours away and I'm considering not attending. I'm pregnant and I am finding it hard to travel. Would it be considered bad etiquette to allow dp and dd to attend alone? It's dp friends if that makes a difference. He's not desperate to go and is happy to either not attend, attend with me or without me.

You have perfectly good reasons not to go. You can reply that you were very pleased to be invited but cannot attend and give them your good wishes.

Nothing wrong with declining, though best I think to do so in good time.

Have you already agreed to go and have now changed your mind? I'm struggling to see why this is an issue otherwise Confused

Thank you, most people seem to think its OK for me to stay behind. I suppose I am questioning it because I keep reading threads where some posters consider it bad form to invite one half of a couple to weddings, so I wondered if I was somehow in the wrong to send dp by himself to a similar event. Also because I am going to be travelling the week after for a holiday so it won't look like I struggle to travel. It's more that I will struggle with one night only and travelling so soon after for the holiday.

Bit harsh blaaake

It would be bad form of them to invite only DH, it’s fine for only one (1.5) of you to accept. Line up a new book or some relaxing telly!

Of course you don’t have to go!

YANBU. Ok to stay home.

I attended a Christening when 8.5 months pregnant. It was a hot day, almost 3 hours car journey away ( I didn't drive ), and I was very tired. However it was my nephew's Christening AND I am his godmother.
