Hospital bed curtains

Is it frowned upon to keep them shut?

Just had surgery, was in a LOT of pain (thankfully being managed now) and I am constantly being asked if I want my curtains around my bed opened.

I feel and look horrendous and am absolutely not ready to be having a chat with anyone else on the ward.
I just want to be left alone

@Distractotron

That’s appalling Shock

Can you raise it as a serious concern and breach of patient privacy? Absolutely disgraceful. Talk about leaving your dignity at the door.

Oh yeah - never mess with the catering staff on a cup of tea delivery mission. Curtains, cleaners, a minor earthquake on floor 3... nothing stops the tea delivery round getting through.

It's like a competent psychotically devoted to his job reverse version of Postman Pat - or Mrs Doyle from Father Ted.

'I guess she wouldn’t have been able to do it if her curtains were open all the time!'

IV drug users will find a way to use even if they live in public on the streets, closed curtains in a ward aren't going to stop a person who uses in that fashion from doing it.

Up to you. Personally i don't want people gawping at me while I am asleep. Kept mine closed after a hysterectomy, wasn't in the mood for small talk at all.
