To hate "lol"

Especially when used like punctuation.

I have a friend that puts it in messages constantly, eg; "oh I've got a headache lol hope it's gone before I start work later lol"

Makes my eyeballs want to explode. For fucks sake, just use a comma!!

Some people think it means lots of love. Is it possible your friend is one of those people?

x2boys · 13/06/2018 19:04

My friends and I use it to mean something is actually mega funny, although we would write "actually LOLing", which obviously makes no sense but we know what we meanGrin

Andromeida59 · 14/06/2018 00:14

Hate Lol, I often see it used when people are being bitch but think that adding "Lol" softens the bitchiness. Also hate "Hubby/Wifey". Makes me want to physically vomit.

ToadOfSadness · 14/06/2018 00:20

I get stabby over 'ha ha ha', don't mind lol.

Abandoned · 14/06/2018 00:39

I refuse to even type it!!!!!

SilverySurfer · 14/06/2018 01:20

I love it, lol.

halfwitpicker · 14/06/2018 01:43

YANBU.

But I do it too

Confused
WilyMinx · 14/06/2018 06:23

Lol, I love it. But I would never use it in place of punctuation. I also use Looooooooooooool in response to something really funny, although I know it doesn't make sense.

MakeMineATwin · 14/06/2018 06:57

OMG I say LOL all the time, LMAO and PMSL
Obvs not rly ROFL Hmm😂😂🤣😂😂

MarvellousMonsters · 20/06/2018 10:34

I'm glad it's not just me.

I don't mind it in general, just when it's out of context and used instead of a comma/full stop. Shock

I was just thinking this the other day after reading it heaps on here! Can't stand it.

MoistCantaloupe · 20/06/2018 10:51

I love it when people think it means lots of love.
"Sorry to be passing the news it to you, but your great aunt died. Lol"

MereDintofPandiculation · 20/06/2018 10:55

Sometimes its a bit of a "softener" though. If you think over text something might come across a bit blunt or harsh, a "lol" can basically say "this is light-hearted I'm not being a dick to you" Isn't that a bit like "With respect"? ie "I am being a dick to you but I don't want you to be cross about it"?

I can can cope with LOL, Roflmfaoand the rest, what I can't stand is people who end any food recommendation with "Nom nom"
