Bloody proper cotton bedding but WIBU to go back to a poly cotton mix?

Now I love sliding in between crisp cotton sheets, but blimey the ironing (and they still look creased - slightly less so but still)

Should I bin the lot and go back to Nexts own cotton mix bedding?

I bought some iron spray stuff in Spain (not starch). It makes ironing a doddle, cotton sheets look great and smell lovely. Can’t find it in the shops in U.K.

Love cotton sheets, hate poly cotton mix.

Soak and Sleep do lovely bedding.
Don’t iron it, life too short for ironing!! We don’t iron anything.

I stayed at a Marriott many years ago fell in love with their pillows, came home and ordered six. Replaced recently, phew they are not cheap but absolutely blissful. They do linens as well.

Honestly does 100% cotton bedding help the stupid menopausal night sweats? If they really do make a difference and you get a better quality sleep then I'm prepared to spend the £££'s!

thatisnotanoption · 13/06/2018 16:45

I bought white fitted cotton sheets from soak and sleep with 1000 thread count. Bliss! (but awful to iron so I don't bother).

GinGeum · 13/06/2018 16:48

100% linen is by far the best for night sweats!

welshmist · 13/06/2018 16:49

I wear cotton nightwear, but still fling the bedcovers on and off all night. Bought a lovely cotton bedspread from Macys which is comfortable in this heat.

xFreePeaceSweetx · 13/06/2018 17:04

Costco, John Lewis and TK Maxx for me. I bought a bedding set with vouchers from JL 15 years ago. It still looks brand new.

Xmasbaby11 · 13/06/2018 17:09

I'm not sure but think mine are mixed and definitely not thick and luxurious! They are fine for me and I'd never consider ironing them. I rarely iron full stop. My bed is really comfy and I sleep well.

VickieCherry · 13/06/2018 17:37

Which White Company sheets, specifically? (I know you're all going to say the best you can afford...)

I do sometimes go and stroke them, but they vary so much and it doesn't always seem to be the most expensive that feel softest.

Atalune · 13/06/2018 17:41

TK Maxx for 300+ thread count which I find pretty easy to source for our super king size bed. We have 2 sets and a couple of large sheets to change.

Never would return to sweaty poly cotton, my student days are over.

And I iron EVERYTHING. Clothespins bed linens last much much better if they are well cared for.

Fintress · 13/06/2018 17:44

Another White Company cotton bedding lover. My steam generator glides through the creases no problem. I quite like ironing though!

Queenoftheblitz · 13/06/2018 17:55

Yes sluttybutty, 100% cotton for night sweats. It doesn't stop them but does cut back on that dirty feeling.

mimibunz · 13/06/2018 17:56

The White Company makes fabulous sheets!

Yes it does. It also doesn't get smelly in the way poly cotton does. If you really want to make a difference, buy a lightweight Baavet instead of polyester duvets as well.

However do NOT use fabric conditioner on cotton bedding because you are just adding back synthetic additives that stop them being cool and absorbant (same for bath towels. Fabric conditioner makes them slimy when wet!).

3dogsandcounting · 13/06/2018 18:07

I love poly cotton 😳 Have had expensive cotton but prefer poly cotton as it doesn’t need ironing. Can’t say I notice any difference when sleeping under and in it. I usually buy John Lewis Polycotton and I love it.

RiddleyW · 13/06/2018 18:11

Is linen better than cotton for sweatiness? We have 100% cotton and it’s ok but my DH gets terrible night sweats

Buglife · 13/06/2018 18:16

Hotel style sheets are usually a high thread count as well as being 100% cotton. I have a mix of thread counts that I’ve picked up online and cheap in sales, usually 800+ and they are lovely. Heavy as hell and yes hard to iron!

Pollaidh · 13/06/2018 18:29

White Company cotton and also linen sheets are lovely. I never iron anything.

SimonBridges · 13/06/2018 18:55

I have just bought Casper sheets to go with my mattress. They are lovely.

I stayed in a lovely hotel in America a couple of years ago which had sheets from frette eu.frette.com/uk
They were bloody lovely, but good lord the price.

If you know anyone with a B&B or holiday let, get them to order you some of Out of Eden's 300 thread count cotton stuff, it's wonderful and not expensive, but it's trade only. www.outofeden.co.uk/products/2101-110_2102-110_2103-110_/300-thread-count-cotton-bed-linen-white

Kevin great site, have forwarded to a friend to open an account. Many thanks.

SilverySurfer · 13/06/2018 20:09

I used to love White Company sheets but the last ones I bought lasted less than five years. They went really thin and I put my foot through the top sheet. Won't be buying from there again. In contrast I still have a pair of sheets my mother gave me which have the utility mark on them, ie were made in the 1940s, They are still going strong and are really lovely.

welshmist · 13/06/2018 23:31

Very have a sale on, I found some cotton bedding 600 thread in the hotel collection, so now £160 poorer, they had better be worth it lol.
