To really wonder at the madness of these parents

I went to the cinema tonight and saw a 9pm showing of film rated 12A.

It was not a ‘kid’s’ film.

As the trailers were playing three adults came in with 2 children, one about 4 and the other about 1.

The baby just cried on and off and the 4yo kept talking very loudly. It was very disruptive and really ruined the start of the movie.

A few viewers spoke to the group at various points to no avail but eventually someone got a staff member who I assumed asked them to leave as they got up and left shortly afterwards.

What the fuck was going through their heads? How are people so selfish?

Mrstark I think it's more sensible to expect and if necessary enforce better behaviour from everyone, regardless of age.

Jammycustard · 13/06/2018 16:32

This is why I don’t go to the cinema.

ikeepaforkinmypurse · 13/06/2018 16:44

babies should be banned from cinemas full stop, unless it's a "baby session" - the movie doesn't matter, but it's much less noisy and less dark. My local cinemas offer a few screenings for parents, with current movies for grown-ups.

Young children should be refused access to screenings of movies unsuitable for their age group, I thought it did happen!

The parents were equally rude and stupid, but the cinema is to blame for letting them in.

Mrstark, I'm reporting you to mnhq for your appalling username.

HOW DARE YOU?! It's not okay, I'm not okay, nothing will ever be okay again.

Don't bother to reply as I'll be crying in my bed... 😭😭😭

Mousefunky · 13/06/2018 16:58

When they turned 12 to 12A they essentially created another PG, it never made sense to me personally.

Anyway, YANBU. The baby I could perhaps let slide as most of them sleep and feed but the 4 year old should’ve been in bed and definitely wouldn’t want to watch Amy Schumer.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 13/06/2018 17:57

mouse 12 and 12a are the same thing effectively, ie the same criteria is used to award the certificates

Its just 12a is for cinema use only, where its at the parents responsiablity to decide wether theur children can go and watch it.
12 are awarded to DVDs only where only 12 and aboce can rent or buy it. So 12a in the cinemas will get 12 certificates when their released on dvd

I hate the cinema, bores me to tears however my 3 eldest love a film my youngest who is just 7 just can’t sit - unless it’s a film he really wants to see. They went to see Jurassic world last week and he sat perfectly but I Wouldn’t ever take him to anything he didn’t specifically ask to see as its not fair on us or anyone else who paid a fortune to visit.

I did do the baby screening once, It was hell I couldn’t concentrate due to babies crying and mine being fussy, fine if you enjoy it but it’s not something I’d be doing again (youngest is 7 lol)

Fulltimemummy85 · 14/06/2018 11:16

Taking my 5 year old to Jurrassic Park early evening. She is amazingly well behaved. It's normally older kids that are the problem when I go. You can't judge age.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 14/06/2018 16:29

oh

Grin

Great film wasn't it ?

0h · 14/06/2018 17:08

I loved it! Don't love having to wait for the next one. 😭 I need my poor Spidey rescued now! I'm surviving on fanfic at the moment. BlushGrin

Metoodear · 14/06/2018 17:15

The problem is a lot of feckless now thing 12a =suitable for all ages if you had 18a I put my house on people trying to bring there kids in to watch eyes wide shut

Metoodear · 14/06/2018 17:21

Children don't magically become well behaved at 8

No but their more mature and more likey to be able to follow the story that is complex

More likey to be able to sit for longer and also to sush the frigg up when told

I give up going to the pictures now I get sick of listening to but they wanted to see
Girls trip ConfusedHmm

Poor kids being out that late if they'd stayed for the whole film they'd of had an increadly late bedtime, no wonder the baby was crying must of been bit overwhelming for them. Can't understand some people when they do things like that
