She is a massive bellend & I haven't even read that link - I remember her from the 'Women hate me because I'm beautiful' thing - what a dick she was, funnily enough people did point out that yes some women were threatened by beautiful women, but, er, she wasn't one of the beautiful women. Duh. I'm all for a bit of self confidence but that is flat out delusion (not to mention the fucking arrogance of it)!

Miladamermalada · 12/06/2018 20:41

You're just jealous of her beauty.

DaphneFanshaw · 12/06/2018 20:45

Bloody hell!!!! She popped into my head for some reason the other week. I remembered the whole women hate me men love me malarkey, but couldn’t remember her name and could be bothered to google it.

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 12/06/2018 20:47

I vaguely remember a laughable "article" about women hating her for being too beautiful.

Was that her? Ha ha! Shut up Brick!

0lwen · 12/06/2018 20:48

ha ha, i was just thinking that she'd disappeared.

Well, I work very hard.

There is something really funny going on inside her head. That whole ''women don't like me because I'm beautiful'' and she was, I guess, attractive. Yes, to be fair, she is attractive, but if you compare her to beautiful as her comments invite the reader to do then she will fall short. Why would she set herself up like that!?

AuntyElle · 12/06/2018 20:51

Really good take from Hadley Freeman on Ms Brick and the DM:
www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2012/apr/04/samantha-brick-thrown-to-wolves

’The paper is full of scare stories... usually written by female columnists who regret the terrible life choices that have led to them being childless and unmarried at the shockingly geriatric age of 40 plus. Few of them ever talk about the terrible life choices that have led to them selling their souls to the Daily Mail, a development many would probably see as far more tragic than not being married. Which leads us to the issue about how much it obviously hates its female writers.’

rosamacrose · 12/06/2018 21:29

Just to lighten it up a bit.
How much money would it take for you to write a Samantha Brick or Shona Sibary style article?
I'd like to say that no money would be enough for me.
But then, no one has asked.
What if they did?
How much? Grin

SameTerfDifferentUserName · 12/06/2018 21:37

I’d write brick type shite for 1m. No money in the world would make me pimp my kids out like sibary!

OP YANBU!

IcedPurple · 12/06/2018 21:44

I remember when the 'don't hate me 'coz I'm beautiful' line came out, I was expecting to see a ravishing beauty along the lines of Monica Bellucci or Charlize Theron.

Then when I saw her picture, all I saw was a moderately attractive woman in her 40s, someone I'd describe as good-looking if I knew her, but who I wouldn't look twice at if she passed me in the street. Certainly not the type to inspire envy, unless all the women she knows are really fugtastic.

I will say this for her however. She's managed to make something of a celebrity status for herself out of some crass 'articles'. Even 5 years on we're still talking about her. So maybe she's not quite as thick as we think?

itsbetterthanabox · 12/06/2018 21:57

I agree with her. But the problem isn't working mothers it's men. If men equally split the work of their kids- did pick ups and drop offs, took time off when kids were sick etc then it would be much more equally spread and not have such a negative impact on women working.

itsbetterthanabox · 12/06/2018 21:58

She blames other women because she's petty, immature and doesn't look at the big picture.

Thanks for posting this, it’s made me look at a lot of these articles in a different light!

Quittingthyme · 12/06/2018 22:51

What a load of cock.

Shut up Kelly

Particularly enjoyed this nonsensical sentence:

Mums automatically get assume that privilege before us.

Op, why are you reading the Sun!?!?

StrangeLookingParasite · 12/06/2018 22:53

Fugtastic, hee!

FredSheeran · 12/06/2018 22:57

Samantha Brick is less culpable than Kelly Brook in this case, because the former was doing her job, ie, churning out 800 words on a particular topic commissioned by someone else to fulfil an agenda, whereas the latter sat there and said what was in her head at the time, presumably her own opinion.

Either way, it's divisive and unhelpful bollocks. Now Paul Dacre's announced he's leaving the Mail, maybe the Sun is making a play for some of the pitchfork readership.

upsydaisysister · 12/06/2018 23:00

What a green-eyed article.
I didn't think she worked apart from the odd bit of writing from her French pad, financed by her older husband.... Sorry (not sorry) if I got that wrong Bricky but I'm sure that's what I read/saw on tv when you had your 5 seconds of fame for being a deluded witch many moons ago...

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 12/06/2018 23:02

I've just re read the 'I'm too pretty' article and omg what a load of old shite!!

The list of things that apparently happen to her due to her looks would be amazing if true! Random pilots sending champange to her on flights, random men paying her cab fair! Bar men waving away her card when trying to pay her bill in pubs. Hahaha

Battleax · 12/06/2018 23:09

Oh she’s not financed by the (Plumber? Carpenter?) husband. No way. Writing that confessional, deliberately controversial, drivel can be lucrative , especially once you’ve made a profile for yourself by selling your soul, a la Brick or Sibary. And, TBF she puts serious effort in, daily. (She’s always on writers’ groups offering cash for leads and case histories, very often for stories that never appear).

BUT she’s not a trained journalist and look what she’s had to do to make the money. Sod that.

itsbritneybiatch · 12/06/2018 23:11

As a full time worker who admittedly works form home for 50% of it.

I can't get my head around it.

What she says.

Fuck off. And when you get back. Fuck off again.

I find it hard working from home. How hard does everyone else find it. But they do and they manage and they get by with shitty fucking benefits and tax credits. I qualify for none. I dont earn a fortune. My ex earns £190k a year. He Pays is £18 a month. .

This post had me raging.

Battleax · 12/06/2018 23:15

Both she and Kelly Brook desperately wanted to be mothers but were unable to realise that hope.

The “embittered barren” thing is not a good look, it has to be said. I wish they’d get themselves some decent therapy and not be drawn into discussing children if it’s too raw. It’s like watching unsympathetic women self harm.

itsbritneybiatch · 12/06/2018 23:20

I couldn't even read the whole article. She's a dickhead.

I've read half of it.
She thinks she's too pretty for women to like her and for men to be her friends

Am I wrong before I judge??

itsbritneybiatch · 12/06/2018 23:21

My mates well prettier than her. GrinGrin

TheLastMermaid · 12/06/2018 23:23

I stopped reading at "Us women who..."

We women who know how to construct a sentence wonder how others get published and paid. Oh yes, by being goady and/or really beautiful.

PurpleTigerLove · 12/06/2018 23:26

I don’t know who she is but she has a point . Some women do think they should be treated differently just by virtue of having children .

itsbritneybiatch · 12/06/2018 23:35

I find this funny as fuck.

I am ex army. I have my advanced marksmanship. Ie I can hit a target at a very very good distance.

I have my trainers qualifications for the above . And for chemical warfare.

I am still underpaid for my role. Lol.

I'm very girly. I'm getting my boobs done this year. I have Botox.

I have kids.

Why the fuck not? I want it. I can afford it.
