Time wasters

Aibu to get annoyed when I see this phrase being used on social media selling sites?

No time wasters
Back on the market due to time wasters.

It makes me immediately dislike the seller and therefore whatever they are selling.

I think it's a bit pointless putting it in an ad - a time waster is not going to declare themselves as such!

Not sure why it makes you dislike the seller though - to me it says they've had a lot of bad experiences.

busybarbara · 12/06/2018 18:10

It's quite antagonistic and makes you think if you put one step wrong they're going to be breathing down your neck to be honest

NotSinisterAtAll · 12/06/2018 18:13

I find it more annoying when they put “want gone” or “want what I payed”. Good for you to “want”. I’ve also seen a woman selling a prom dress as “unworn” but she then had a tonne of photos in her album of her wearing said dress.... 🤔

Deshasafraisy · 12/06/2018 18:17

Yes, I think it makes the seller seem aggressive and puts me off entering into any transaction with them.

I can't see anything wrong with it. Certainly wouldn't put me off but I'm not a time waster....

It’s a funny sort of thing to put on an ad isn’t it? I mean surely if someone’s has taken the time to travel and view your item, or even engage with you on the phone/in text then they have some sort of interest in buying it. They obviously decided it didn’t suit them/their purpose so didn’t buy. That doesn’t make them time wasters! Nobody buys everything they view!

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 12/06/2018 18:30

I mean it’s not as if people think “oh i’ll Go and mess this guy around for a bit of fun”, is it? Would someone really do that?

Pythone · 12/06/2018 18:32

Yeah, I agree. It reminds me of men who put "are there any good women left" etc. on online dating sites.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 12/06/2018 18:35

Yes pythone! Grin

PinkHeart5914 · 12/06/2018 18:37

To me it says they are someone that has been fucked around so much they are just fed up! wouldn’t stop me buying something off them

Deshasafraisy · 12/06/2018 18:37

Imagine if shops had the same attitude! No browsing! Don’t come in unless you intend to buy!

OP posts:
Deshasafraisy · 12/06/2018 18:39

Pink, that may be but that is a part of selling your stuff online and shouldn’t mean you should be aggressive towards potential buyers.

I don’t personally put that but I have also had people doing exactly that.

One CF at first told me she would arrive at 1pm. I received a call at 12:30 to say that I needed to take the item to her as she was busy. I said no! She then arrived and wanted to pay £10 after originally agreeing £25. At first she refused to leave saying she had no more money and when I told her to go, she went to her car grabbed an extra £20 and said she had no change. She then told me that she needed me to carry it to her car as she had a bad back.

I also had one guy message me multiple times asking for more pictures of multiple angles only to then tell me it was the wrong colour! Hmm

SquatBetty · 12/06/2018 18:43

Doesn't bother me in the slightest. I expect they've had loads of people say they want something, arrange a collection time and then not bother turning up. Happens a lot on the Freecycle types sites unfortunately.

TotallyChorkie · 12/06/2018 18:45

I also think it depends what the item is. If it is a car then I would expect people to come and tyre kick but something like a Lego collection or rocking horse, you either want it or you don’t. If you want shop service go and buy it from a shop!

RedSkyAtNight · 12/06/2018 20:51

Zibbidoo It's generally people that tell you they are really interested and ask you to hold the item for them ahead of anyone else, who then repeatedly don't turn up when you organise times for them to see/collect the item that are called "time wasters". No issue with someone who turns up and then decides they don't want it.
