I’ve just made butternut squash soup (squash, garlic, stock) served with two poached eggs and I’m nicely full for under 250 cals. I need more similar suggestions please!

NoFucksImAQueen · 12/06/2018 12:55

also following. I need to lose 9 stone!

SasBel · 12/06/2018 12:56

Anything based on vegetables with lots of protein would be my suggestion.

Bowl of pasta is about 200calories,

Salads,

Soup

Frittata

LustfulInMiltonKeynes · 12/06/2018 12:57

Spinach omelette
Mashed avocado on wholemeal toast
Homemade hummus and veg stick

robotcartrainhat · 12/06/2018 12:58

baked potato with low sugar baked beans and salad! (no butter)

Porridge is amazing. Eat one of those measured microwave sachets with water instead of milk in the morning and I swear it keeps you really full for ages. And its under 100 cals. I think even with skimmed milk it wouldnt be much over 100 cals.

Amandinezea · 12/06/2018 12:59

I love avocado on toast but don’t find it particularly filling for the calories, sadly. In fact I’ve found that for me, it’s best to ban bread entirely

Lentil and chickpea soup
Porridge

Amandinezea · 12/06/2018 13:01

Interesting to see porridge and potato suggested - I always thought carbs were meant not to keep you feeling as full as protein?

Don’t want to state the obvious, but if you snack, fruit or raw veg is a great choice, as are rice/oat cakes.
Ella’swebsite is worth a look.
Good luck to everyone that wants to lose weight!

LustfulInMiltonKeynes · 12/06/2018 13:03

I make a lentil stew thats delicious and filling

Birdsgottafly · 12/06/2018 13:03

To take the spinach omelette suggestion further. I do Mushrooms, Peppers, Spring Onion, baby plum tomatoes and one egg if i'm having a piece of toast, or two without.

Can of chick peas, curry powder, tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, onion. Make a curry. I either have it with rice (if i can have the calories), or No Carbs Slim Rice.

The "Slim Carbs" don't taste like the real thing, but they pad out a Veg dish and fill you up. I also do a Veg and Slim Pasta (Penn) dish. I use no sugar added passata, as the base.

Ohwhatbliss · 12/06/2018 13:04

A serve of protein and then practically as much veg/salad as you can eat. Carbs will not keep you full and there's not enough bulk in soup although the added eggs are a great idea!

Birdsgottafly · 12/06/2018 13:05

Also open up your thinking.

Roasted Veg, whatever you like best, can be a snack.

People seem scared of Chickpeas and Lentils, but they are very nutritious, low calorie and filling. You can get different types of both.

kitkatsky · 12/06/2018 13:08

Cauliflower rice in meals where you'd normally have normal rice

Birdsgottafly · 12/06/2018 13:09

"there's not enough bulk in soup "

I don't want to harp on, but I was a Carb addict. So I started adding pulses, Legumes, or Grains. I know Barley is a Carb, but it's better than a piece of white bread (I have a sensitivity to some breads). It is a natural appetite reducer. I also like seeds in soup.

overnightangel · 12/06/2018 13:12

Watching ...
Hard boiled eggs, bin the yolk off and it’s 20 calories

MeyYael · 12/06/2018 13:14

Tomatoe soup.

Chickpea salad, maybe with a little feta and definitely lot of vegetables (cucumbers, tomatoes, greens/salad of your choice, olives etc...)

Roasted / grilled fish, heaps of grilled vegetables with pasta or grains or a potato.

Bread, some avocado, an egg, vegetables.

Bean stew / soup (with tomatoes, a lot of spices etc) and other kids of vegetable stew. With a little meat, fish or other seafood, if that's something you like.

Salad wraps / filled salad leaves. (With beans, veggies, chicken...)

Rye bread (pumpernickel) with beets and onions. And a little sour cream or yoghurt.

A friend of mine makes frittata and other meals with shirataki (?) noodles....

UpstartCrow · 12/06/2018 13:14

Chicken and red lentil soup.
Chinese veg steamed in chicken stock and spices, with chicken pieces.
Pastrami and green salad with pesto or lemon dressing.
About 250 cals.

2 Hard boiled/poached eggs with cauliflower and broccoli cheese is around 350 cals.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 12/06/2018 13:15

I make a stir fry of onions, mushrooms, broccoli and prawns, lots of soy sauce but it's not for weight loss, just nice.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 12/06/2018 13:16

Someone gave me cauliflower rice once and it's horrible!

Firesuit · 12/06/2018 13:17

I agree that bread is generally bad, but for a sandwich that's an appetite killer relative to calories consumed: fried egg and marmite.

lastqueenofscotland · 12/06/2018 13:18

Dahl
Stirfrys with beansprouts instead of noodles
Stuffed mushrooms

moonbells · 12/06/2018 13:18

Tin of lentils 55p, tub of gravy paste 25p, tablespoon of tomato puree or even ketchup 5p, curry powder/garam masala 5p and some water. 325 calories and 90 pence the lot. Though I expect to be unpopular later Grin

Amandinezea · 12/06/2018 13:23

Apparently the lentil/bean wind effect reduces considerably the more you eat them!
