And mother's day/parent's birthdays etc?
I have always taken my DSS out to buy a present for his dad for father's day/birthdays but in the last year it has become such hard work, he can never meet me on time and when he does eventually turn up he had no idea what he wants to get which means aimlessly wondering around shops for hours with a small child for DSS to then decide he'll just get the DVD/book/something else from the first shop!
So WIBU to just tell him to go shopping on his own this time? More for the fact that this week the only time I can get out the house is the mornings - when he is in school - but also I'm just bored of the last minute madness shop, I bought the present from my DS to DP weeks ago just when I saw something he'd like but DSS always puts it off, 'can we go next week instead?' for the past month. Now the only day I could go is Saturday but I've already arranged (two weeks ago) to spend the day with my dad so I'm not willing to cancel to trek around the shops for hours on end.
I'd obviously give him the money but I think he need to start making his own present choices - every year he says he doesn't know what to get and I have to rattle off all the things DP likes, DSS should know all this by now and by able to make the effort to buy something without calling on me, he's perfectly capable of buying his DM and GF presents without help or a chauffeur.
