I don’t know if I BU but I’m a little ticked off.
Was in Lloyd’s you pharmacy today with DD.
In front of us there was a man.
He had asked for something the assistant said something and he left.
She then turned to a lady waiting for something.
“I can’t be bothered I think he’s a hypochondriac”
I was shocked.
Yes I understand that this man may well be known but I heard all he was asking for was the free blood pressure check.

But Aibu to think that it was highly unprofessional and inappropriate for her to speak like that about someone she does not really know to other customers?
Some people have anxiety about their health etc the pharmacy was not “busy” and they do offer free checks.
I was really pissed off at her judgyness!

YANBU. The man might be a hypochondriac. However it's not her place to decide that. She's paid to do a job.
Yes she might get into trouble, but Let it be a lesson to her not to gossip when all and sundry can hear. I mean we all moan about our clients from time to time. I can't put my hand on the Holy Book and say I've never done so. However you have those conversations out of ear shot.

Intheprimeoflime · 12/06/2018 11:01

YANBU extremely unprofessional of her. She can moan about customers in the evening over a glass of wine like the rest of us, not to another customer. She has no idea what is going on in his life

I don’t normally complain I live and let live, for some reason this really bothered me.

YANBU whatever she thinks that was an awful thing to do. So many reasons that confidentiality is important, of course it bothered you, if she can say that about him, what might she say about you?
I'd be inclined to report her, yes.

SeriousSimon · 12/06/2018 11:35

That's AWFUL. Fuck, I'm not a complainer for the sake of it but I agree that would have really bothered me op. Definitely complain.

PalePinkSwan · 12/06/2018 11:39

Yanbu, id complain about that.

TaytoAllDay · 12/06/2018 11:40

Nah, don't complain. I reckon he's a regular & hypochondriac. She probably fed up. We all get fed up sometimes don't we?? Dealing with the general pop.

troodiedoo · 12/06/2018 11:42

I would speak to the assistant directly, bit snakey to go over her head.

Funkykitkat · 12/06/2018 13:49

I think what bothered me is, that it’s a pharmacy that’s connected to the doctors surgery.
Does she judge everyone?

Are you going to say something? I really think I would, it's not okay for her to say that to another customer. I get that she might be fed up but, as a professional, she should know the time and the place.

TaytoAllDay · 12/06/2018 15:34

I reckon she doesn't judge everyone no, maybe she knew the other customer personally. When I worked in customer service before sometimes people were clueless and didn't realise you knew the person you were speaking to sometimes.
I understand your concern though, but is it really worth getting someone in trouble at their work though? It's not the worst thing I've seen/heard someone do!
