Seen in a number of branches this week...

BTW, unless things have changed a lot I don't suppose it's much use saying anything.
Some time ago, in a very big Asda I use a lot, there were cardboard inserts in every trolley advertising Pot Noodles - 'Snacking at it's most intense'.

I happened to see the manager while doing my shopping, so I pointed out the mistake. He peered at the sign, with clearly no idea what I was talking about - evidently thought I was bonkers.

So just that once, I wrote to head office.
I had a reply saying that it was 'poetic licence'.

To put it un-poetically, they gave not a shiny shit.

I got a t-shirt withdrawn from all branches of Next a few years ago, on similar grounds. And they sent me a small teddy bear.

Oh dear LOL! Grin Sack the buyer!

Caribou58 · 12/06/2018 10:57

Well done multivac that's good to know!

FelixBrown · 12/06/2018 10:58

Obviously the T shirt belongs to Dad, and then has an instruction underneath

Littlechocola · 12/06/2018 10:58

I don’t understand what it says? Don’t do what by halves?

onalongsabbatical · 12/06/2018 10:58

Caribou58 fab, I'm on it!

Caribou58 · 12/06/2018 10:58

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER

'poetic licence'.

Which suggests that in addition to not understanding the use of the apostrophe, they don't know what 'poetic licence' means.

How on earth did that get through any kind of check by an adult?!?

Surely our population is not that illiterate Confused

chitofftheshovel · 12/06/2018 11:00

Thing is. We try and try to teach correct punctuation to our children. Schools do the same. And then the poor sods are surrounded with shite like this.

PickwickThePlockingDodo · 12/06/2018 11:00

Yes, go on sabbatical give them hell Grin

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 12/06/2018 11:01

At least there's no mistake in 'halves'!

Asda again - I once saw instructions on a butternut squash, telling you to peel and 'half' it.

Stephisaur · 12/06/2018 11:01

We had a piece of steak that wouldn't scan at the Asda self checkout.

One of the helpful staff members came and manually inputted it... as "mete" :O

Seriously though, that T shirt is giving me palpitations D:

I'm going to copy the image and show it to my low ability Set 3 Year 5 English class after break. I'm 95% sure they will know what's wrong with it straight away.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 12/06/2018 11:04

Exactly, Carabou - I suppose they just thought it sounded good.

At least they didn't spell it 'license'.

PizzaAndChips · 12/06/2018 11:05

I sent an email to ASDA a few weeks ago. I received a rather sarcastic response stating that they understand I would be VERY disappointed that "copper" was spelt incorrectly. It seems that they really should sack their proofreader!

listsandbudgets · 12/06/2018 11:06

Ouch, I wish I'd not opened this thread... my pedant nerves are jangling!

As for falling out of vaginas... what are you supposed to do.. ring your mum from the card shop

"hi mum just checking whether I had a vaginal birth or if you had a cesarean"

"cesarean darling.. why?"

"oh that buggers that plan up then... cheers bye mum"

onalongsabbatical · 12/06/2018 11:06

I've posted x2 on their FB page and tweeted them, I'll revisit and keep at it when I've got a minute and report back if I get responses.
Join in anyone?

listsandbudgets · 12/06/2018 11:07

pizzaandchips IIRC a Cooper was someone who made barrels. Perhaps Asda are trying to start a barrel making trend Hmm

PlumsGalore · 12/06/2018 11:13

I am sorely tempted to go to Asda this week and pin a notice on it saying "this is spelt wrong".

LARLARLAND · 12/06/2018 11:16

Fucking morons.

YearOfYouRemember · 12/06/2018 11:20

There are so many more wrong placements apostrophes these days than there used to be.

LeighaJ · 12/06/2018 11:20

"liz70

"fell out of yours"

If only it had been that fucking easy!"

inorite? Grin
