To be fed up of people at work asking me

For hay fever tablets?!

As a one off yes but I bought a brand new pack and they are already all gone.

It’s not like it’s painkillers that cost pennies. You know you have allergies, you know where the shop is so just buy your own!

I’d say no but I’d look like a proper tight miserable cow Grin

I always take mine at night and don’t take them to work.

Problem solved.

HollowTalk · 11/06/2018 22:10

Buy those for £1 in ASDA - they're just the same ingredients as the more expensive ones.

Fluffyears · 11/06/2018 22:13

Take them in the morning before you leave the house then you just ‘don’t have any with you’ I hat this I was given omeprazol on prescription and abfuy kept asking for onebforbhisbgeaetburn.....no!

Leopoldstotch · 11/06/2018 22:15

Just take them in private and say you don't have any on you ... simple

Allthewaves · 11/06/2018 22:17

Buy generic - much cheaper and take before work

TERFragetteCity · 11/06/2018 22:18

buy them for £1 in asda...and then just leave them at home.

Astrid2 · 11/06/2018 22:35

You should only be taking one a day anyway so why even have them with you? Or in sight of any one else?!

CoughLaughFart · 11/06/2018 22:41

You should only be taking one a day anyway so why even have them with you? Or in sight of any one else?!

Eh? She’s taking a tablet, not having a wank.

dementedpixie · 11/06/2018 22:45

Asda do packs of 30 for less than £3. Buy generic not branded or direct them to get their own

NellMangel · 11/06/2018 22:47

cough made me chuckle

Astrid2 · 11/06/2018 22:49

Eh? She’s taking a tablet, not having a wank.

Wtf are you on about?! Hay fever tablets are one a day so to solve her problem she should take them at home where her colleagues won't see so she doesn't have to give them away?!

OliviaStabler · 11/06/2018 22:50

How do they know you have them?

Stop showing publicly you have any and lie when you are asked for one.

TarragonChicken · 11/06/2018 22:51

To all those posters telling op to take one a day at home, it does depend what antihistamine she needs. Cetirizine, loratadine: fine, buy in asda and take at home, but they don't cut it for me when hay fever is bad. Chlorphenamine (piriton) is pharmacy only and is 4 times a day. Though you probably shouldn't be handing it out at work if this is the case, as I assume you're not a pharmacist!

jay55 · 11/06/2018 22:51

Say no. Or ask them to pay for it.

Fruitcorner123 · 11/06/2018 22:53

Astrid2 not all kinds are one a day but I do take your point. Just don't bring the tablets to work or bring just the right number for yourself. Say "sorry I haven't got any spare" you don't look tight. You are being a bit silly to keep giving them out if you can't afford to. Just say no.

Timeisslippingaway · 11/06/2018 22:56

Why don't you just cut the card of the up, just take a couple with you at a time and tell people, oh sorry I've only got 1 left I'll need it. Or lie and say you have none. They are bloody expensive.

NellMangel · 11/06/2018 22:59

I got a reputation for always having stamps at my work. Cost me a bloody fortune.

I just lie to anyone who asks now.

MeyYael · 11/06/2018 23:02

You don't have any.

Or start asking them for hayfever tablets...? "Actually, I just wanted to ask whether you have any...?"

Or tell them the truth. They're expensive and it feels like they're exploiting your kindness...

Beamur · 11/06/2018 23:14

You can buy piriton without a prescription. Very effective but sends me straight to sleep. Good to take at night though.

colditz · 11/06/2018 23:20

You clearly have no business acumen.

Of course you'd be happy to let them have an antihistimine tablet - that will be a pound. DOn't have a pound? Oh dear. I'm sure someone will lend you one.

CoughLaughFart · 11/06/2018 23:36

mWtf are you on about?! Hay fever tablets are one a day so to solve her problem she should take them at home where her colleagues won't see so she doesn't have to give them away?!

So if you have a hay fever attack at work, you shouldn’t have a tablet in case someone sees you?

BlankTimes · 12/06/2018 00:07

even cheaper than the supermarkets, tell your colleagues Pharmacy Kwik do a years supply of citirizine for £14.50 delivered.

pharmacykwik.co.uk/products/12-months-supply-of-cetirizine-hydrochloride-10mg-allergy-hayfever-relief-tablets-with-free-delivery-360-tablets

Birdsgottafly · 12/06/2018 00:23

Citirizine is also good for irritated bladders. You can take them up to three times a day. Under that circumstance, someone could need to take them in work, then to cover up, say that they are for Hay Fever,

You shouldn't have to hide things so that they are not asked for. I'd make a joke out of it, by saying things like "it was your turn to buy them" etc. But I'd stand firm about not giving them out anymore.

crispysausagerolls · 12/06/2018 08:53

Buying cheaper pills isn’t the point! The point is people need to sort their own allergy needs out ffs. Either don’t take them in view of anyone and say you don’t have any, or make a joke and say “the lily of The Valley pharmacy is closed due to budget cuts” or something. People are so shameless.

BrownTurkey · 12/06/2018 10:42

Yes, I take them all year round and then lend dh or dd a strip when they start suffering and then they ask for more the next day - well where did you put the pack I gave you yesterday!
