To never lock my car doors?

My car has been broken into 3 times. All different places and it’s not a nice/flashy car at all.

I feel like just buying a steering wheel lock and then if people want to get into my car then they can just open the door and see there’s nothing in there to steal. At least I wouldn’t have to keep paying £70 for a new window each time.

Sometimes in US TV fiction you will see someone who urgently needs a car simply try random car doors and find one unlocked with the keys inside. I used to think this was far-fetched, but more recently I've read there are towns in the USA where it is perfectly normal for people to leave their cars unlocked with their key in the ignition. Apparently this is considered safe, and doesn't even invalidate insurance.

Yes in my state I regularly see this. In the winter the car is normally left running.

Unfortunately some twats will literally take anything. My friend’s car was broken into and all that was in there was her ancient, very well used gym trainers (which they still stole). It’s ridiculous
