Entitled dog owners

AIBU to not understand why some dog owners are so rude and entitled? At the weekend we attended a birthday picnic which was somewhat spoiled by the behaviour of a dog and his owner. It was a 'no dogs' park, the owner didn't ask the host if he could bring a dog and he refused to put the dog on a lead even after it was running around near the food and scaring the children. He just seemed to laugh it off

Even on bank holidays and weekends, it's clean and tidy, apart from dog mess. Re rubbish bins should be bigger then. In our park they are lots of bins and they are regularly emptied too.

For those who got grumpy at my initial commet, please note i put some not all dog owners.some people are to busy getting angry at people having a different opinion, they misread comments.

Dogs are NOT like children in that they can and should be left alone at times. I am at home with my dog all day but equally if I have to go out for a few hours to a party he is fine on his own because his is emotionally well-rounded and doesn’t suffer from separation anxiety. Someone shouldn’t take their dog to a party unless the host has requested the dog or said they can come (and I still think it’s odd to take a dog unless you really have no alternative eg the party involves overnight travel and you can’t find someone to come and look after him).

I agree that people can be equally entitled over dogs and children though. I don’t want someone’s dog coming over to me in a cafe just as I don’t want someone’s child coming over to me.

Can't MNHQ provide an AntiDoghouse section so that all the dog-haters can congregate in one place and slag off dog owners to their hearts' content?

While we're at it, we could have a Get Them To Go In The Fucking Litter Tray (instead of in the neighbours' gardens) section, too. I'll post there. Wink

Yes, most dog owners are considerate.

But an annoying minority think it's okay to let their dogs off the leads in public parks when the notices clearly say this is not allowed. It only takes a couple of dog owners doing that to ruin the place for those who are afraid of or nervous around dogs.

But they don't care as long as Scamp gets to enjoy a nice run around.

Yes most, nearly all dog owners are considerate, just people have great delight in slagging of the bad ones, most of the people that do generally don’t like dogs so look for the worse in the situation, I love dogs and I am more than happy for a happy dog to come up to me, I know not everyone is the Same,

The thing is, if you're one of the three families who had their afternoon ruined by the dog running amok in national trust gardens last weekend (two balls burst, one picnic spoiled, three small children in tears), its hard to remember most dog owners are responsible.

Its even harder to forget the dog owner who just wandered off while her dog ran amok for half an hour, before finally returning to put her dog on a leash. She also promised to buy a new ball for a toddler - then legged it! What kind of a meanie does that??
