We've had a circus turn up in our village, it's taken over our lovely park and is so hideous to look at, there's caravans everywhere and satellite tv dishes plonked about and a ticket booth. i haven't seen anyone buying tickets at all, i haven't heard anything about this circus on social media or anywhere.

Looking at it gives me the heebiejeebies and i literally have never heard of anyone since 2000 going to a circus unless it's one of the proper big shows. not a travelling creepy looking affair.

Who goes to these? Are clowns funny? i have so many questions!

There used to be one regularly here (but pricey) but the land they would pitch on has now been built over so they haven't come in a couple of years

I really hate circuses. I can't believe they used to put them on telly years ago and my family used to watch them - it was dire.

We have one that comes every year and it’s great, the acrobatic performers are amazing.

And apart from the flattened grass, you would never know the had been as they leave the site immaculate.

Go and you may be pleasantly surprised and entertained!

We always go at Christmas. Only animals are dogs and horses (and not always those), there’s no way I’d go otherwise. Have seen some amazing acrobats, jugglers and the like. It’s always a real spectacle and I’m amazed by the skill and discipline the performers have.
I wouldn’t go if it wasn’t for the kids mind you, but we all love it once we’re there and it’s great to give money to support live shows instead of sending it all to Hollywood IYSWIM.

Do you live near Royston Vasey?

adaline · 10/06/2018 21:36

I love them so long as there are no animals involved.

guiltynetter · 10/06/2018 21:36

i’ve not been to one since i was a child but i actually the like the way they pop up
in random places, one day they’re there, next they’re not! i think the tents themselves are really impressive, there’s a huge one that comes to a field near me every year, i think it’s exciting. i might take my DD now she’s old enough.

your opening post is weird. what’s wrong with caravans and satellite dishes?!

Flatearthersphere · 10/06/2018 21:47

Haha actually my village is a bit like royston vasey! anyone not local and we're all a bit curtain twitchy!

@guiltynetter it just looks mad in our boring little park, like there is a huge amount of caravans but they're not big ones they're really tiny and they have satellite dishes that are about a metre big for every 2 caravans. I'd put a picture on but it would be rather outing. Nothing ever happens here. ever.
