And when do you decide to celebrate?

Just that.

I’m almost 40 and my parents divorced when I was 4. I actually cannot remember when I celebrated with whichever parent wasn’t there on the day. However, I do remember birthdays being happy and fun, wherever I was and whoever was with me. So please don’t worry about not being there on the actual day, your kids will be happy that you celebrate their birthday whatever day it is.

@bluetrampolines - sorry I’ve just read why you won’t have them, that’s awful, you poor thing.

Trust me, they will be so glad to be back home with you, they really won’t care.

I’ve looked after children that were so angry at mum for going away but the moment they stepped through the door all was forgiven.

There’s really no contact at all? You can’t phone and say goodnight? That really sucks.

No way would i phone. They 'd'f would somehow sabotage it. Thank you for your kind words. It is definitely horrible

So far it hasn’t happened on a birthday but Christmas was our first year apart last year (in 14 years) We celebrated Christmas exactly the same before he went and had Christmas Day on Christmas Eve. He then went to his dad’s and was gone for nearly a week. I was with DH so not lonely Grin [santa]
