I have a BUPA medical policy. I called to get authorised for an orthopaedic surgeon for my ongoing knee problems. Was suggested to see a special Bupa muscle/sports expert first for better assessment.
Bupa Dr. made me feel very uncomfortable. He was very dominating. Complained why I didn't show him old MRI / XRAY right away (when it was only 5 mins into a 45 mins long assessment, and I was answering his questions). On seeing reports, said he is more interested in my story than MRI
.
After physically examining both knees and performing ultrasound, he said I have knee pain because of bad posture from teenage years which can be corrected with physiotherapy, and asked me to take appointment in that centre.
I have now read my old MRI report again (my fault should've read before this appointment, rather than relying on my memory from 2 years ago), report says early cartilage rupture in various locations in knee. This report was done 2 years ago, I feel this must've gone worse. This can only be treated with pin hole surgery or special injections. Doctor did not mention anything about cartilage.
Dh thinks Bupa is trying to save money by sending me for physiotherapy. Should I take a second opinion from another doctor?
