How can I earn £2500 from scratch in 6 weeks?

SuperSkint · 07/06/2018 19:28

I have name-changed and am posting here for traffic - I need to find £2500 by mid-July and am looking for ideas please! (I need to earn it, not get a loan)

I have plenty of spare time but a new job probably wouldn't pay out in time for my deadline so I'm exploring other options.

So far I've started ebaying everything I can think of but I only have average old stuff so it won't bring much.

I've thought of delivering pizzas (I have a car) but it needs to be something where I will actually have the money quickly.

I'm hoping all you mumsnetters with far more imagination than I have can help! I'm obviously happy to put in the hours.

In your position i would honestly be considering webcams

Christ really? You''d sell your body rather than chuck a couple of grand on a credit card. Jesus. Get some bloody self respect.

titchy · 08/06/2018 11:26

Agree that Matched Betting isn't gambling as well, and quite easy to do if you know what you're doing. Which clearly some people here don't. and the reason everyone isn't doing it is because it takes a while to get your head around and it can be time consuming. But it's supporting my dc through uni Smile

minniemummy0 · 08/06/2018 11:39

Normally I think MLMs are spawn of the devil. But I’m wondering if you could sign up for something relatively inoffensive like Avon. I’ve noticed when friends have done these things they have had big orders from people on the first month and then it all tails off as people have stocked up on what they want. And then you don’t have to worry about meeting sales targets, just stop doing it after you’ve made a bit on the first month??

DeepFatFriar · 08/06/2018 11:40

@titchy
Its just a body

paceyswife · 08/06/2018 11:41

Place marking as I'm desperate for some extra cash - unexpected car bill. No mathematical at all thought so betting off the cards

sleepingdragons · 08/06/2018 11:44

DeepFatFriar no, it is not "just a body". It has a mind and emotions attached to it, and that is where the damage occurs.

readyforapummelling · 08/06/2018 11:56

What about egg donation? Care fertility offers £750 per donation cycle providing you fit the criteria.

readyforapummelling · 08/06/2018 11:58

Plus you get the added bonus of maybe helping someone get a much wanted baby. They let you know if a baby is born as a result of your donation and whether it's a boy or girl. I've not done it myself but would consider it if I was strapped for cash.

SuperSkint · 08/06/2018 11:59

These are such great ideas, thanks, I'm investigating pretty much everything though I'm going to draw the line at webcams and selling pants (didn't know that was a thing!!)- no that I have the body for that kind if thing anyway ;)
I now have an appointment for initial flu camp assessment.
I hadn't thought about dog sitting but it would be perfect round here, but I wouldn't get a licence from the local council in time. It's a good idea longer term.

I'm reading up about matched betting (and plucking up courage to talk to the HMRC... )

Any more?

ready I don't think I've got many eggs left...

Can you clean? Around where I live, people will pay for someone to come in and do a thorough spring clean of their house, wash windows, etc.

ReanimatedSGB · 08/06/2018 12:07

Can you negotiate payment in installments with whoever you owe the £2500 to? Can you throw some money at them now and keep throwing more during the next six weeks to get the total down?

Firesuit · 08/06/2018 12:23

What about egg donation?

OP is over 40, under 25 would be a better age for that.

(It's the age of the egg that matters, early 20's donor maximises recipients chances of success. )

AnnieAnoniMouser · 08/06/2018 12:25

If you have a body, you have a web cam body...there are seriously all shapes & sizes! But I understand you not wanting to do it! It actually wouldn’t bother me doing it at all, if it could be guaranteed to only be seen overseas! I can do without friends & neighbours seeing me! 🤣😂

Why would you need a licence for dog sitting?

I always used staff or friends of friends etc. If I needed one now I’d try to find someone through word of mouth.

3stonedown · 08/06/2018 12:35

Matched betting is definitely not gambling but it is not for people who might be swayed into gambling if that makes sense. My DP can't do it because when a bet settles he thinks "oh I should have just not layed that then I would have made 4x as much". Me on the other hand thinks "ok, £4 up, next bet"

I've made over £1000 on it this year and I only do it when I remember. If you put the effort in you can make a lot more.

Xiaoxiong · 08/06/2018 12:36

ReanimatedSGB probably has a very point - if it's a tax bill, for example, or a repayment to the bank you can work out a payment plan. I don't know any creditors who would rather you not be able to pay them anything than get the whole of their money back but over time.

OP can you give us an idea of what the bill is, and we can help? Trust me, MN has seen it all before and you'll get some good advice I know.

titchy · 08/06/2018 12:38

Its just a body

And you'd be happy for your neighbour, mum, grand-dad and children to see you writhing around sticking something up your chuff?

Yoursincerely · 08/06/2018 12:40

Matched betting is not gambling if done properly. It can lead to gambling if you are not strong enough.

Team profit is the best place to start before moving on to oddsmonkey. You start by completing sign up offers. Open an account place a bet, lay off at the exchange for a few pennies loss. Then get a free bet, again you lay this off and make the profit.

Laying off means you are betting against a team to win. So if they draw or lose the match the exchange lay wins the bet. If they win the match then the bet wins with the bookies.

You can make around 1k with the sign-up offers but you would need a few few hundred pounds to get as many sign up offers done.

Once sign up offers are done then reload offers dry up. These used to be good but bookies got wise to matched betting.

You can progress to 2-up or 2clear offers but these are advanced and you only make profit if certain things happen i.e your team goes 2 goals up then either then if the other team scores You Can cash out at the exchange. I guess you could see this as a mild form of trading. You will have small qualifying losses if the 2up doesn't happen. When it does you can make a lot of money. Well, depending on what your initial bet was

2clear is if your horse wins by to lengths you get 15% of your winings back as a free bet that you can back and lay against for a profit.

For both these offers you need big stakes and if you make a mistake it can be costly.

May be worth doing the sign up offers to make the 1k but leave it at that. If you are have weaknesses to slot machines then leave it.

I unfortunately wasn't strong enough to leave it at sports betting and got a online slots machine addiction and am now 100k debt. I have ruined mine and family's life. We are probably going to lose our house.i hate the hardship I have caused my husband and daughter. I appreciate I am an extreme case.

If you try it please please be very careful
Don't end up like me.

Childminding, with summer holidays coming up? Advertise your services online, on local noticeboards etc.
What can you do - speak a foreign language, play an instrument, paint, play a sport?...set up as a tutor.
Summer holiday childcare schemes will be recruiting help.
If by any chance you can play the piano, advertise your services accompanying music grade exams, which start in a week or so and go on for about a month from then - long shot, and you wouldn't make anything like £2500 but it all helps.
Good luck.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 08/06/2018 14:15

Childminding, with summer holidays coming up?

You wouldn’t even get registered in 6 weeks let alone earn £2500.

Wanderlusting99 · 08/06/2018 21:29

I used to use profitmaximiser when matched betting, worth the few quid for the claculators, would get through a lot more bets and never made a mistake.

My DH has delivered pizzas when we've needed some quick cash, always been paid in cash on the night, he's done it for 3 different takeaways so it seems to be fairly standard. These weren't big chains though.

Lots of good articles at MSE and a supportive forum too, this one gives a quick run down on ways to make money on the side www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/make-money

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 08/06/2018 21:32

I’m making a right pigs ear of matched betting, so it’s not for everyone. I wouldn’t recommend it if someone is desperate for money.

Fruitcorner123 · 09/06/2018 00:43

Gambling websites know that gambling is highly addictive and I suspect that they want people to use matched betting because either

  1. they will do it wrong
  2. they will get drawn in and use the site to gamble.

I am suspicious about any post that touts gambling as a solution. Gambling is highly addictive. You wouldn't suggest someone has a few cigarettes then walks away because nicotine is addictive.

Please do not make the mistake of thinking you are immune to addiction. Gambling ruins lives and is a frequent reason for suicide amongst young men in our country.

titchy · 09/06/2018 11:16

Fruit corner - I fully understand the risks associated with gambling, but just want to point out that done correctly matched betting isn't gambling because you're not relying on a particular outcome to make money, which is a fairly crucial difference. Secondly the bookmakers do NOT like matched bettors and as soon as they suspect you are one you'll be banned!
