Our DS is 8mo, he goes to be around 7.30-8 but wakes up a lot in the night. Wondering if I'd be better putting him to bed later or earlier (I'm not sure how this would help, but would love a better nights sleep for all of us!)

Agree with smashian, even when we have really bad nights from teeth we never take DD downstairs. If she really won't settle then I co but that is last resort. Even if I feed her I do it in her room with the lights right down so she knows it's night time and not play time.

On a good night she will wake once and I give her a cuddle and some water and she goes back to sleep. Bad night I have to feed, really bad night it's a feed and into my bed (usually about 4am) and really really bad nights (waking constantly before 11) I just co sleep

Dd goes to sleep between 6:30-7 and usually sleeps for 12 hours, she is 14 months

From what you describe it sounds like it’s too early for his body clock. Normally if they’re genuinely tired they won’t take an hour to settle. I would try taking him up an hour later.

At that age mine went at 9/9.30. Woke loads - i mean some nights worse than others, but up to 7 times. Breastfed back to sleep. Would fall asleep on you but then v v v difficult to get to lie down again without waking her. Quite often slept with her on my chest in the rocking chair out of exhaustion. First night slept through was her first bday and it improved from there, gradually.

I dont think you can train then to sleep through op, sorry! They take their own time!

Before tonight I would have said usually 8 - 8.30, but we both had a nap at 6.30 and apart from two short feeds he's been asleep since then, so I may try an earlier bedtime (depending on how the rest of the night goes and when he wakes up tomorrow!)
