To encourage dd15 to go on the pill for her acne?

dd15 has pretty bad acne and has tried antibiotics for years which haven't helped much. Older dd took roaccutane a couple of years ago which worked brilliantly BUT after a year the spots started to come back, so she went on the pill (yasmin). Her skin is now absolutely perfect.

dd15 doesn't want to take roaccutane as its such a hard drug on the system and although older dd didn't have too many side effects, because it didn't work long term she doesnt think its worth it. She is also very nervous about taking the pill. But she is very, very low about her skin Sad. She has a gp appointment in a couple of weeks to discuss options. AIBU to push her to try Yasmin? I think she's worried she will put on weight Hmm and also she's quite a young 15 (16 later this year) and I think the sexual connotations worry her a bit!

When I was a teenager I tried EVERYTHING - expensive face washes and creams, different antibiotics, antibiotic creams, cutting out dairy and nothing worked. 4 weeks on Dianette and my skin was immaculate. Was on it for over a decade with no side effects. Best thing I did, my confidence increased massively.

DD (aged 16)'s GP is happy for her to have Dianette if she wants (with lots of monitoring), but we're waiting to see a dermatologist in August first. DD's tried two different lots of antibiotics and creams/gels, plus the first lot again, and nothing so far has worked and lasted, so we'll see what the dermatologist says.

I considered suicide when I was on Yasmin. Did sweet fuck all for my acne, too. Everyone's different.

Dianette worked for me and my dsis. We both had adult acne. Yasmin made me have thoughts of killing myself.

I went on the pill at a young age because my periods were agonising, they are not just for sex protection! 😊
No idea about skin though, mine has never changed really except when I'm pregnant.

Look into spironolactone op, it’s the first thing they prescribe in the US for hormonal acne. You’re right roaccutane won’t help if it’s hormonal, it will keep coming back like her sister’s did and they give courses of roaccutane out like candy these days, meanwhile wrecking your liver and a risk of bowel cancer. I’d try Eloine (same as Yaz) or Yasmin first and Dianette as a last resort. All 3 you can get online at Superdrug online doctor and Lloyds pharmacy.

I was in dianette when I was young and it worked on my spots. Unfortunately my daughter had the same issue and it was awful for her. I purchased numerous products costing a small fortune, we tried everything. She tried a contraceptive pill, it got worse. She changed to Lucette (same as Yasmin) contraceptive and her skin improved so quickly. It was unbelievable!! She is so happy (subject to teenage issues) and much more confident!
