My child is non verbal.
I had a phone call midday yesterday from staff to say a bump had suddenly appeared on his head but they didn't see it happen and have no idea how he did it (they had just come inside from outdoor play).
When I fetched him later that afternoon he had a huge bump sticking out from his forehead (as big as a duck egg) with a nasty bruise.
He was with a group of eight children (but not sure how many staff at the time).
He is fine and had no ill effects from it.
I'm just amazed that he didn't cry as it must have really hurt and been quite a whack.
Is this common for staff not to know any details?
There was no form for me to sign (presumably because they don't know the details).
I'm not making a big issue of it.
I accept accidents happen.
It just makes me feel a little uneasy somehow.
I've had four children and never known this happen before (obviously they have bumped their heads at nursery but I've always had a form saying how it happened and the treatment they gave i.e cold compress).
I didn't ask many questions at the time (which I should have done) as I was more worried about my child and the size of the swelling.
