I am 6m postpartum.
Still having sharp pains in fanjo and pain when I lift things etc/ get up. Havent attempted anything in the bedroom for fear of pain or just god knows what it’s like down there.
Went to doctor to get a referral to see a specialist. I have private healthcare through work so lucky to not need to wait or fight for NHS referral.
Doctor rightly talked about importance of kegels but I felt like if I hadn’t had the private cover I wouldn’t have had a referral. This is when I’m pretty confident going in and asking for what I think I need and describing quite strong pain and affecting sex life.
What if I hadn’t had that- surely 6m after birth it should be treated a bit more seriously than just ‘do your kegels’?
Aibu to think there are lots of less demanding women who are likely not getting the treatment they need because we aren’t taken seriously enough? The fact that lots of women heal easily and quickly after birth leads to a presumption that if you leave most women alone, they’ll be fine... eventually.
