To open a pack of nappies 3 months before the baby is due?

It seems a bit ridiculous to ask, but I want to pack my hospital bag early to get it off my mind. I know it's a bit precious (okay it's probably ridiculous) but it's always at the back of my mind, cycling round. I want to put in some size 0, size 1, and size 2 in case of larger/smaller baby so I don't want to just chuck one 22 pack in.

Also I kind of want to see how small they are. Which is also ridiculous. I suppose what I'm worried about is if nappies have an expiration date. Wow, typing that makes it seem way more pfb than when I thought it!

Cross post, good idea op.

We actually had a couple of bags packed and left in the car and I told my DH what size clothes to bring in (we had new born and up to 1 month packed)

He was born about 7pm, they put a nappy and hat on him and he was wrapped in blankets, we were in recovery until after midnight.
I didn't put our own nappies and clothes on him until the following morning.

Nappies can act as a moisture absorber to the air so if it’s particularly humid they may get damp and if they then dry out again they go crispy and hard. You’ll know more what you’ll need closer to the time. Mine were in size 1 nappies and up to 1 month baby grows, both we’re around 3.9kg

Of course open them, you need to practise on a soft toy!

Don’t forget you can get your partner or someone desperate to come and see you pop other stuff into you in hospital

Agree with above, you won't need size 2 just yet. Mine were big and didn't wear newborn size clothing (well we had one or two items given to us in that size, but they were hardly worn by eldest and wouldn't ever have fitted youngest). I can't remember how long we used size 1 nappies for, but youngest was about 11lb and definitely in size 1 for a while.

I just have a packet of size 1s in my hospital bag.

My 9.7lb chubster still only needed size 1 nappies. You'll be fine with those!

He now wears size 9-12 month babygrows at 6 months. Me and his dad are both under 5"9 Hmm

My 8lb 5oz chunky monkey was in size 1 for a few weeks, and newborn clothes too. He's 17 lbs now, in 6-9 months clothes, and size 3 nappies, at nearly 5 months.

I did the individual outfit packs too, I had a vest, babygrow, hat and nappy in each freezer bag, labeled with size. Then extra bags with spare layers and mits, another pack of nappies, etc, and a second bag in the car, with more of everything. The midwives were so impressed with my organization, and it helped my dh too, I was showering after the birth while they were dressing the baby so he had to find everything.

I think you should take size 1 with you and if you need size 0 get somebody to go get some for you, but I don't think you will need size 2 they will
Be to big, good luck Hun Thanks

Op, go on YouTube and type in 'baby hospital bag' i wasted hours cheerfully watching other women pack their hospital bags for them and their baby. Lots of awesome tips for what to take with you.

Yanbu but I'd genuinely just get a pack of newborn pampers and stick with that until the baby is born.

DD was 7lbs 2oz and was in size 1 nappies for a while. We'd taken 0-3 months clothes for her and they were too big. We had to get first size and tiny baby.

Even now at 18 months old she's just into size 5 nappies and still in 9-12 months clothes.
