No cracks or damage to either bumper but inch of paint transfer?

Yes.

Technically you both should report but hopefully they’ll find their sense of proportion.

Chapman31 · 04/06/2018 23:41

Legally you’re required to.

Snowysky20009 · 04/06/2018 23:42

Yes

courtneyseb · 04/06/2018 23:43

Can you expand just a little?

Armchairanarchist · 04/06/2018 23:43

You have to!

ObiJuanKenobi · 04/06/2018 23:45

If worries me that people are out and about driving with a potential of causing / being involved in an accident without knowing the very basics - like the law!

UnsalariedPost · 04/06/2018 23:56

I'm pretty sure from this that it's not op's car that has the different colour paint on it. Yes, of course you have to.

FreshHerbs · 05/06/2018 00:26

Come on!!! A scuff. Your going to see your premiums rise over a scuff. Is it cheaper to sort the damage out between you or not. What do you drive, a cheap car or a beautiful top of the range motor. Common sense people

Battleax · 05/06/2018 00:30

Exchanging insurance details isn’t actually the same as making a claim Fresh. Generally everyone gets home, has a beverage and calms down.

jigsawpicture · 05/06/2018 01:13

Both cars are 10 years old. It would be cheaper to pay out without involving insurance... I might just shoe polish it and be done with it Grin

I'm joking obvs, will take note first thing in morning, I wouldn't have posted if I didn't feel bad, I realise now I really need to put pen and paper in glove box ..

I did. Got a nice text back saying the car was ancient and not to worry about it.

ObiJuanKenobi · 05/06/2018 08:23

I had an accident 4 years ago, someone went into the back of me at a red light. Bumper only looked a bit scuffed with a little dent but I insisted on taking details - turned out the reinforced steel bar within the bumper had bent into the fuel tank and dented it as well as shafted the inner crumple zone in. My (not very old) car was almost written off. I was also told by the person that hit me it would be easier if they just gave me £50 on the roadside Hmm

jigsawpicture · 05/06/2018 13:25

Update: put note on car at 7am (also looked in daylight and couldn't even see anything) and already had text to say thanks for leaving note but happy to leave it.

You have reported to your insurance company though right?

If not you should have a google and see how many people have been told the same only for the other party to put a claim in against them anyway. It's not a risk I would be willing to take, especially as my £200 excess is invalid if I don't report within 24 hours and it rises to £1000.
