To experiment on my family for a week?

I want to be vegetarian. Last time I tried I made too much of a fuss and my husband and kids refused it all, it made it all too difficult so I gave up.
As of today, I'm vegetarian again. I've not mentioned it to anyone but I'm doing a week long experiment of my family serving up nothing but vegetarian meals. I don't intend to tell them that they're specifically vegetarian and I'm hoping they won't notice.

So tonight we're having slow cooked veggie lasagne.

Tomorrow is veggie cheese and mushroom escopoles with pasta and salad.
Wednesday vegetable pizza and chips.
Thursday southern fried quorn "chicken" burgers
Friday veggie spaghetti bol with torfu "meat balls"

Do you reckon I'll get away with it and if not, WIBU to tell them all to cook their own food if they're not happy with what I cook?

I love meat, as do the kids but we also eat plenty of meals that don't happen to have meat in. It's not an issue. Macaroni cheese or baked potato, cheese and beans are without meat but for some reason we don't label them vegetarian meals. Don't label your meals veggie. That way it would probably go unnoticed.

However, Tofu and Quorn taste awful to me. I've used them before as I like to try different things but I was not impressed at all and would be annoyed if my hubby told me I was getting chicken and I got that stuff. Don't pretend or lie. Just don't serve meals that would normally have meat in and see how the family like it. And (in my view) if they want to eat meat then it's their choice, just as it's yours to be vegetarian.

Quern did terrible things to my bowels and bathroom the one time I tried it. But sure. Why not. If they notice then they can do their own.

DH has been having quorn shepherds pie for years Grin he only realised last week it had LENTILS in it ... I haven't deliberately kept it a secret from him. He's just never asked.

So clearly quorn is totally undectectable to him if lentils are his biggest issue! I think to 'disguise' it, you need to be careful cooking it. It tends to end up tasting of the first thing it touch's. And it tends to be more passable as 'meat' if you brown it off first.

Make sure to hide the packet Grin
