We’re going to Cornwall in a camper van for our honeymoon at the end of the month and will be based close to St Ives. I’ll be 30 weeks pregnant but hopefully still up for some nice walks, a bit of gentle cycling and some swimming if the weather is up to it.

Does anyone have any recvomendations for nice days out, good places for cream teas (essential obviously), best beaches for sunsets/scenery or anything else we should do whilst we’re down there? Recommendations for a nice restaurant for my birthday dinner whilst we’re there also very much appreciated! It’s on our last night so could travel a little way and stay elsewhere if necessary.

The Minak theatre is absolutely incredible. Not sure how you would find the steps but the cafe does the most amazing cake and being glass fronted you feel suspended over the bay. A definite must see I'd say.

Portminster beach cafe for your birthday meal. I lived in Cornwall for many years and the food is amazing. You will need to book hugely in advance though, you can walk to it from St Ives

Ansumpasty · 03/06/2018 20:26

Perranporth beach is amazing. Heeley’s Cider Farm is a nice day out and the Norway Inn do a fabulous Sunday Carvery. Falmouth is great for an evening out for your birthday and there are many places to choose from to eat. Make sure you book, though!
A good place to start is just to look for Cornwall hashtags on instagram!

Every year without fail we visit and stay at Perranporth. It's absolutely lovely, a pretty little park, lovely shops, an incredible beach and stunning views. Google it, you won't be disappointed.

Queenofthedrivensnow · 03/06/2018 20:30

Over st ives way there's lots of nice eating places. Go over to hayle towans for amazing beach walks and scenery.

St ives is near everywhere in west Cornwall. Drive along the coast road from st ives to Penzance and stop off at st just and mousehole.

Potter around the shops in Penzance. Good Fish and chips everywhere

Kynance Cove is magical
Porthcurnow
Sennet cove is easy access
Seafood cafe and pengenna pasties in st ives

Porthmeor Beach cafe in St Ives. Book a heated pod built into the hillside. Eat delicious food over the most stunning beach whilst the sun goes down - it’s perfect for sunsets.

St Michaels Mount is lovely - Sunday lunch at the Godolphin Arms is great. Porthcurno and the Minack is superb. Seals and surfing at Godrevy (park on the top field for the best views). Tremenheere and Tanglewood Gardens are lovely. Plus Trengwainton and Godolphin if you have National Trust passes. Trevaskis Farm does pick your own Strawberries plus lovely farm shop and the best desserts in the cafe.
Jubilee open air swimming pool in Penzance is awesome.
Olives cafe in St Ives does the best cream teas.
Sennen Cove is worth a visit plus you can cycle from there to Lands End.
Walk the coast path from St Ives to Zennor with lunch at the Tinners Arms in Zennor.

vampirethriller · 03/06/2018 20:38

Zennor is nice for an evening walk
St Michael's mount has lovely little shops and places for cream teasSmile

karmacoma1 · 03/06/2018 20:40

Kynance cove is just fabulous. If you are up for a little walking, definitely give it a visit.

Smoothyloopy · 03/06/2018 20:43

For your birthday meal I can recommend Bens Cornish Kitchen in Marazion which is excellent as are Kota & Kota Kai in Porthleven.

The Scarlet if you fancy a spa treat. Gorgeous place.

We came back after a week for half term from St Ives, it was heavenly Grin Porthmeor is stunning, sunsets out of this world. My children saw dolphins whilst bodyboarding was like a ‘child at Christmas’ moment. Walking over to St Michael’s mount then boating it back is magical. Portcurno beach is stunning. Mousehole is beautiful. St Ives is our favourite just stunning though very hilly but it really is just amazing

Cornwall is all beautiful, hope you have an incredible honeymoon there and discover lots of new places too! I would live there in a heartbeat x

Hoopaloop · 03/06/2018 21:04

Get a nice breakfast at Breadline, Penzance.

Jonbb · 03/06/2018 21:07

Fowey and Falmouth not to be missed if you like boutique and lifestyle shops.

LakieLady · 03/06/2018 21:10

Take a drive down towards St Just. From a village just north of St Just, it is a gentle walk to the coastal footpath where you can walk to Cape Cornwall.

Last time I was there, they were just packing up after filming Poldark. Sadly, no sign of Ross. He must have been on one of his many trips to Truro.

The road between St Ives and St Just is lovely and has some stunning views.

I know that lovely view, we go to Beachside Holiday Park nearly every other year , I think that it is pretty close to where you took that picture.

The kids have always loved it and we have marvelous holiday memories of summers at Beachside, having barbeques on the beach and walking to Gwithian. DD is 20 now and would still jump at the chance of a holiday there again.

Porthminster Cafe on Wharf Road (harbour) in St Ives is great for breakfast - we went there twice in a week last October half term. Dinner at the Rum and Crab Shack was brilliant too.

It's a fairly easy and very scenic walk from Sennen to Land's End. Land's End is a bit over-developed but the views are amazing.
