AIBU to think that Legoland is just a massive sodding rip off.

I had the unfortunate experience of going to Legoland yesterday and I am still angry about how much the whole day cost and feel as I have just been completely ripped off. I may as well have just taken a wad of money into the middle of the park and burnt it.
I know it was half term, although hadn’t realised when we booked the tickets, but from the moment I arrived I felt like we were just being conned out of money.
£12 for park
£120 in q-bots which were a waste of time as we would turn up at our allotted time and then still queue for another 20-25 mins because there were no staff or only part of the ride working.
£8.50 for a stupidly small salad
£16.00 for 3 coffees and a tea
£9 for face painting
The list is endless. How the hell do people afford to go to this place?
Half the rides aren’t working, the queues are over an hour for a ride that lasts 2 minutes. The queue to get an ice cream was 30 minutes and then you are charged an extortionate amount for one scoop. It is dirty and old looking, the rides are crap and the decent ones you have to pay extra for. The toilets are disgusting, the only food available is pizza, pasta and fried crap.

I was so pissed off by the end of the day and just felt completely taken advantage of.

So AIBU or is legoland actually incredible and I went on a bad day?

I think if you're going for the rides I wouldn't bother. Mine are young enough and theme park newbies so were impressed by anything ... for example, they chose the laser thing in the Egypt bit which I found hilariously naff but they thought was brilliant. I think older, more worldly-wise kids wouldn't like it (although, having said that, I know someone who still takes her teenagers regularly ....)

It is but been twice and loved it.

I'm taking DS later on this month. I've pre booked tickets for £52 each, includes lunch and refillable drinks. Hope it's worth it as neither of us have been before!

I'm shocked you have to pay to park! I had been considering it as my 5 year old loves theme parks but don't think we will bother.

We went a month ago using club cards for entry. It was very hot. It was a normal theme park and we had fun. No Qbot and went on 8 rides. It was a Sunday and we got there st 10, left at closing. Food was extortionate but you expect that.

We love legoland! We have Merlin passes and of all the parks we visit, legoland is our favourite because it has the highest number of rides for little ones and the bonus of Lego.

I don't get the legoland grump on here, but each to their own!

Parking is £6, quite unavoidable but needs must.
Everything else is pretty optional. You don't have to get q-bots, you don't need to go in term time, you don't need to buy food or drink there, I cannot think of any rides you have to pay extra for?

What we do is take a packed lunch, and lots of drinks (as legoland is rubbish for queues in general and expensive) and then we go to the pizza place for a buffet around 4pm. Even on the busiest days, it's very quiet in there and you can help yourself to pizza and ice cream.

The other great thing about Legoland in Billund, apart from it being a much nicer experience, is that it is literally next to the airport. You can pick up very cheap flights and get there sooo easily.
And Lalandia is great too.

I had the same experience years ago op and said I'd never go back.... fast forward a few years and I did return and had a fabulous day with little queuing so I guess it depends on the day - I do agree that the whole place needs a deep clean though!

Not something I'd recommend for family holidays, but I've walked from Lalandia to Billund Airport. It's about a mile or so.

Waterpark is great and there are nice spa facilities too.
