Interested to hear what your "ive had it, I'm getting out to go and _" pipe dream fantasy is when you've had enough of the grind/normal life.

Also, if anyone has any stories of how they totally changed career path I'd be interested, I'm in my 30s and want out of my current (extremely boring) industry. I have the beginnings of a plan but would like some success stories to make me feel like i can do this.

Having said that Spring, I know a number of people who’ve opened B&Bs here.. they haven’t lasted long when the reality has kicked in. I like mine, we close at 6! I think I just wanted to say that sometimes you can follow your dreams! It’s still hard work!

I’m opening a petting zoo / hobby farm with an amazing farm shop selling local food with attached cafe (closed in the evening unless it’s for an event).

Will have farm cottages to rent - a natural pond to swim in. Probably have some camping places too with bonfires / toasting marshmallows etc

Animals will be highland cows, alpacas, rare breed chickens, pigs etc

Might even plant a grapes and make my own wine - depends on how the apples are doing in the orchard (for the cider)

Not over invested in this at all 😂

We did it. Sold up and moved to the algarve 15 years ago. Still here and taking Portuguese citizenship Smile

Mine is going to somewhere with an awful lot of open space and trying to live as self-sufficiently as possible. Home schooling the kids (brilliantly, obvs), growing herbs etc. Multiple dogs, spending entire days outside. Unlikely to happen as DH is very much a town boy at heart - he finds the prospect of being more than a ten minute drive from a kebab shop quite disturbing. My other little dream (if kids and husband weren’t a factor) is going to Florence, learning Italian and making a new life there somehow, teaching English and violin and writing a book perhaps - living with a couple of cats in a tiny crumbling apartment decorated with postcards of famous artworks. Clearly never going to happen but it’s nice to dream Grin. Tbh I’d settle for getting us out of the south-East commuter belt, so working on that next.

Plus I’ve kind of already had my ‘chuck it all in’ moment in reverse. Abandoned my PhD in 17th century poetry to go to medical school. So traded a tenuous future chasing non-existent funding and trying to make ends meet as an impoverished academic for a guaranteed well-paid job when I eventually finish. Though I will say the financial prospects had very little to do with my decision.

I'm going to open a scuba shop in Borneo with my husband. We're going to adopt and spay/neuter all the local stray animals and pass our days organising dream trips for people, hanging out in the attached bar.
My daughter is going to grow up multilingual on the beach.

Nousernameforme · 02/06/2018 11:24

I have two fuck it dreams
One for winter one for summer
The winter one is being tucked up with loads of books in a cabin akin to hagrids hut somewhere in the highlands.
In summer I want to be in New Orleans drinking bourbon and listening to jazz blues.

vampirethriller · 02/06/2018 11:28

Mine is Fuck this for a lark I'm going to Vegas to win my fortune/ I'm going to Cornwall to be a famous artist.
I can't actually draw but I can dream!

RainyAfternoon · 02/06/2018 11:39

newlifeinspring where is your museum? What is it about? Tearooms sound fab - will you have scones? Smile If it's close to us we'll come!

Mrscog · 02/06/2018 11:45

Mine is to jack everything in and be an artist in winter and gardener in the summer! I haven’t done art since Y9 but I feel so alive when I’m painting or gardening!

I would love to live on a very secluded Scottish island, the kind where you only see someone once every 6 weeks when they deliver groceries by boat.

BeyondThePage · 02/06/2018 11:54

CristalTipps - I grew up on a remote Scottish island like that - the reality sucked...

JennyHolzersGhost · 02/06/2018 12:10

A year of travelling the world and then settle down into a seaside cottage and write books ...

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 02/06/2018 12:11

My plan would be to stick with law but get a job in the Cayman Islands. It actually would be pretty achievable but I'm not sure it would actually be as good as I think it would be!

kshaw · 02/06/2018 12:15

I was looking on the abroad properties on right move this week and found a 26 bedroom hostel/guesthouse on a Cambodian beach for £96k...I also dream of escaping to the chateau every time I watch!!

Peanutbuttercups21 · 02/06/2018 12:30

I quit my rate race London job at 30, to become a TEFL teacher in Mexico Grin

I had some back up though, as went with DH who also found a job there.

Stayed for 4 years. Then moved to Brazil.

Then got homesick, had babies and moved back here

But was it worth it? Yes yes yes
