AIBU to not be able to live with this?

I've paid a load of money to get my bathroom tiled and the tiler has left this monstrocity of a tile in the middle of the floor. It's been a week and I can't bear to look at it. How could he have thought it was acceptable?

Please someone tell me it doesn't look odd and I can grow to live the weird white splurge? My plumber Dad has been primed that he may have to attempt to replace it but the finish is unlikely to be as good as I originally had. Right now I just want to rip up the whole floor and start again.

It looks good to me sorry, would recommend him

TattyCat · 01/06/2018 01:41

So..

Martin you look good underneath my feet. What else can you do for me, except listen to me, during my ablutions in my hour of need?

you're very lovely, in your own sweet wiggly way, but I find you offensive. Please explain yourself. I KNOW you're a friend and you've seen things you probably shouldn't have, but please make me your friend and wiggle the night away with me.

There, Op! Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

That style of tile is meant to be like that to replicate natural stone surely? I prefer that tile to some of the others as some of them look more false, like that brick wallpaper you got in the 70s and again in the noughties.

Murane · 01/06/2018 02:38

He shouldn't have used that tile if it's faulty. But now it's down you will struggle to get it up without damaging the neighbouring tiles. If it's natural slate you will need to seal it with a stone sealer product anyway, and that will improve the appearance.

Queenoftheblitz · 01/06/2018 03:11

Search high and low for matching stone coloured paint and use a fine brush to blend the white mark in.

thebewilderness · 01/06/2018 03:47

It looks like a spill. I do not think it is likely to ever stop looking like a spill. I am sorry he was so careless. Put a dab of paint on it or it will drive you bonkers.

They are porcelain tiles so there's not too much I can do with it. I am referring to it as Martin until my Dad can replace it in a few weeks time.

I honestly can't see an issue with it! It looks normal and nice to me!

I have that flooring in my kitchen. I can't stand it tbh, but not enough to pay a fortune to change it. We're hopefully moving anyway & the estate agents seem to think lots of people like it. Its just what this type of flooring is like. Its either natural, or meant to replicate natural & natural isn't perfect. Surely you liked it when you chose it? If that bad get your dad to replace a tile. Its not hard to do & you won't notice it!

sweetboykit · 01/06/2018 13:36

I couldn't live with it either.

user546425732 · 01/06/2018 13:43

It's a floor tile, it's not the end of the world.
You aren't going to notice it soon.

Bathroom mat - job done.

HackedOffSeller · 01/06/2018 17:38

Ooh that would really annoy me!

scubadoobie · 01/06/2018 18:46

That's a very easy fix for a Tiler, or anyone who is confident with using DIY powertools and can follow instructions given in a YT video.

Cut through the surrounding grout with appropriate powertool, break and dig out the offending tile. Then remove the adhesive left on the floor, fit a new tile and grout it in.

We had a slightly cracked tile that drove my missus buts and I was able to fix it myself, after watching a video or two.

The Tiler was a bit of an eejit for using it in the first place, if there were other flawless tiles to choose from but it would be a PoP for them to sort it out, and it wouldn't take long at all; maybe an hour or less.

skittlesandbeer that’s lovely!
