Do you think the UK media is very negative

I would say they are.

  1. people on benefits are demonised. Shows like benefits street is not a real account on the lives of most people.

  2. scaremongering on issues such as soaring immgriation and certain religions

  3. targeting individuals like Raheem Sterling who has a tattoo of a gun on his leg. He explained the meaning behind it I.e. dad shot and vow to never touch a gun etc.. It's his life he can do what he wants. But the media just make it a negative thing

Yes but no more so than most countries and a free press is something I appreciate much more after living in countries where there wasn't one.

  1. I think it's a backlash after benefits paid far too well and we're now dealing with the consequences of people being extremely entitled. Look at how frequently the word "rights" is used on MN. Usually completely out of context but it shows the mindset of many.

  2. Depends what media you watch or read. The Daily Mail and the Guardian are both full of BS. Maybe read both and find the average. Certain religions are scary but MN will delete any posts mentioning how or why it is; this shows just how scared we should be of it and definitely not draw any cartoons

  3. Yes, there's a real need amongst many to virtue signal. Some stupid woman from Mothers Against Guns was quoted demanding he have his tattoo lasered off or covered up. The liberal left haven't realised just how controlling and illiberal they're becoming. That isn't the media though, that's them reporting what people are saying and doing. I can't remember where I read about Sterling but it had all the info. The stupid woman and his explanation of the tattoo.

Yes both the British and US media is negative m. They demonize and fixate (Trump). Neither can be trusted.

Couldn’t help but bite.
Benefits being paid too well? Nope.
Daily Mail is considerably fuller of BS than Guardian. They’re regularly pulled up for printing straight up lies.
Virtue signalling is a really tedious little phrase peddled by people who are, ironically signalling their own ‘virtues’.
For what it’s worth, yes the media is incredibly negative. Trying to have a decent discussion on matters of real import descends into tribalism in no time at all with no efforts at shades of meaning. It’s really depressing.

"Benefits being paid too well? Nope."

Got me there!

"They’re regularly pulled up for printing straight up lies."

Yes, and so is the DM.

You were nearly right about "virtue signalling" but rather than it being a little phrase, it's a little thing done by twats who usually struggle to understand anything more complex than the need to be 'right on'. The example of demanding a man laser his tattoo is a perfect example.

"Trying to have a decent discussion on matters of real import"

Trump's trade tariffs?

You’re so right doomraider, well done. Now we know how anti social justice warrior you are we can all rest easy whilst the U.K. media reporting continues to swoop around the plug hole.

Just for info, DoomRaider is the person who posted on the savings thread about having £700k in liquid and said she “wonders” about those who have no savings and who they expect to look after them when they stop work.

Looking down on poor people is obviously what she does best.

I have a strange feeling that doomRaider is a sad bitter twisted individual who has no more than £10 to their name!
