So sorry but I'm posting here for traffic!

I've just had Botox today for the first time. DD (aged 2) has just come running at me and literally hugged me so tight pressing her head really firmly against exactly where I had the Botox injected!

I'm now really worried the whole thing will be messed up Sad

I've heard that massaging/pressing the area can spread the toxin around.

What's going to happen to my face? 🙈 please help!

Nothing calm down 😁

Queenoftheblitz · 29/05/2018 20:03

Yep calm down. Nothing bad will happen.

hawaiii · 29/05/2018 20:15

Phew 😅 Will it affect the results at all?

Queenoftheblitz · 29/05/2018 20:23

No it won't affect it. You're supposed to avoid exercise and avoid steam such as over hot showers for a few days after botox.

hawaiii · 29/05/2018 20:34

Oh I didn't know about the steam thing. Thank you.

I'm sure it will be fine. When I get mine done the doctor gets me to press a tissue very firmly against the injection spot straight afterwards. It's never done any harm.

Loonoon · 29/05/2018 20:37

It's fine. Some practitioners actually recommend massaging the area after the injection as it is said to give a smoother result. My doctor doesn't think it helps but it obviously doesn't do any harm or other people wouldn't suggest it.

lhastingsmua · 29/05/2018 20:39

From my understanding from getting fillers, you should avoid heavy massaging of the area as this could move the product around from where the injector specifically placed it - however this only applies in the early hours of having the treatmeant, and only if you’re vigorously massaging the area (as in you’re massaging very hard in an attempt to literally manipulate the product).

So in other words, you should be fine OP. Especially as you had botox rather than fillers

Birdsgottafly · 29/05/2018 21:20

Yes it tends to be heat that causes it to go quicker. It's more plumper areas were pressure should be avoided. That's why people with Lip Filler drink out of straws.

VikingBlonde · 29/05/2018 22:10

When I had bottom the funny Russian doctor that did it made me do facial exercises for a week or so after - frowning, looking really surprised and another one I can't remember. It was quite funny and was supposed to make it all look more natural. I'm sure you'll be ok. It gave me such a headache for 2 weeks though, and looking back at photos I did look a bit odd so not sure I'd do it again. Don't worry Grin

notmypropername · 29/05/2018 22:25

People are getting Botox and filler confused. Botox doesn't make anything plumper. You should be fine OP x

So I've just woken up needing the toilet and very surprised to see results already. Way less wrinkles when I smile than before, although the area looks a bit puffy/swollen. I'm a little worried that it's working so quickly, as I was told it would be days before I'd see a change and it's not even been 12 hours. Also, will the puffiness reduce?

OP posts:
Birdsgottafly · 30/05/2018 02:19

You've responded quickly, that's all. I took pictures of mine, as I changed.

The puffiness goes down, as it would if you were puffy after a knock etc.

People react differently, that's why they don't give any guarantees of how long it will last. Also some people need top-ups, others don't. If you don't like the results after a week, don't worry. It can seem to super tighten, but then fade to give a more natural appearance.

notmypropername, no they're not. They were explaining both, to alleviate the OPs fears.

hawaiii · 30/05/2018 07:12

That's good to hear that I'm just responding quickly. I'm meeting a friend today and I'm just feeling a bit self conscious as I think my face does look quite different but hopefully once the puffiness goes down, it'll not be so drastic.

Badgerloco · 30/05/2018 15:13

I was super paranoid when I first had it done, but no one really knows your face like you do. Mine reacts quickly too, was told it was because my diet was zinc rich, ie: lots of nuts and seeds. Mine lasts longer than my friends too.

soapboxmum · 30/05/2018 15:22

Mine acts quickly and stays a long time. My dr does one session then a half session alternatively ever few months. Saves a fortune!
