On a similar theme, I used to really envy my children their lives when they were toddlers. All of their needs provided, most of their whims catered for and, if they thought otherwise, there was the option of having an almighty tantrum.

I have always thought that being a cat in a good home would be the ideal life.

My OH's cat had a hard life for about 9 years until he rescued her, so I'm not jealous of her. Though she has found at least two households to feed her - if she doesn't like the food in one she tries the other -, multiple radiators to lie on, at least 4 beds to sleep on and now has got a best cat pal...

Mine is basking, it's what he does best! He rules our house, we are his staff.

Another here who is determined to come back as a house cat. Possibly a Maine Coone.

Also, having both a baby and a cat now, I don't understand why the phrase is "sleeping like a baby". It should be "sleeping like a cat!"

I’m jealous of my cat’s relationship with DH. While he is happy to ignore me for the tv/ phone. She plants herself on his chest and gazes into his eyes, licking his nose while he rubs his nose against hers, gazing back at her, smiling. It’s a full on sick bucket fest!

How do we know cats don't have stress? I'm with the person who would not want to give up reading, and even though some cats live to be 20, this is short compared to human years.

This is a cat who has the stress of her pleas or wistful looks for food outside my local Waitrose being declined.
