To think I should be losing more weight?!

I’ve been on a significant lifestyle/diet overhaul since Jan, ive given up smoking, joined a gym with a personal trainer, and currently aim for around 1500 kcal per day.

I go to the gym 4 x per week, sometimes more. Of this two sessions are high intensity spin, one is body pump (weights), one hiit work out and one hour per week with the personal trainer.

I eat 1500 kcals most days. Occasionally on a weekend I have 1800. I track it all on MFP.

I started at 19stone. I’ve lost 1 stone.

I have had 2 children and since I hit 30 I cannot lose it. This is the most I’ve ever lost, usually it’s around 5lb and no more.

Starvation mode has been disproved. No such thing.

Have a watch of this video on metabolism and how low cal diets can affect your metabolism.

(I know not everyone likes James Smith but he does word things rather simply, which is welcome in the world of complicated diet regimes)

Thank you everyone.
It is possible I suppose that I’m not weighing measuring accurately, but I tend to round up the calori s if anything, but will get stricter.

I did have a thyroid function test around 2 years ago and it was borderline but she retested was fine. There was a thread on here recently though that said that what NHS class as ‘fine’ is underactive in other countries so I might go back for another test to check it out.

@GooodMythicalMorning Where did you see starvation mode mentioned?

Sounds like you are making amazing progress- fitness up massively and down two dress sizes. You're very inspiring.
The actual weight loss may not be as much as you hoped but it sounds like you are losing fat ( which is different from losing water and muscle!)
Don't scale back the weights- they are really important. I would advise to try and cut back the weekend calories. 1800 calories is not really going to lead to significant weight loss, even with your impressive fitness schedule. And if you include Fri night in relaxing the rules, that's a third of the week at the higher rate. Maybe just have a treat on Saturday???
Keep an eye on the carbs but low/moderate carbs really help with energy (and mood!) which can help you stay on your regime for longer.

I am 5'6" and 11st 7.

Can you get a fitbit?

2 dress sizes is amazingly good. I've lost 20lb since January and its barely one dress size for me. I've gone from a tight size 12 to a well fitting 12.
I find I only lose if I stick rigidly to 1200 calories or under per day. 1500 I stay the same, 2000 would see me gain quite quickly.
