To think this is the implant?

Had it in over a year. Feeling crappy.

Gained weight. Feel bloated all the time. Constantly moody and snappy and unreasonable. Always tired. Wake up most mornings feeling sick. Lots of headaches. Stomach pains often with random bleeding. Sore boobs most days.

Doctor says it’s all the implant and will be solved once it’s removed.

If contraception messes so much up, why is it so widely given? Do they all do this to some women?

Is this likely to go away once it has been removed?

Not exactly sure what I’m hoping to achieve by posting this. I’m just sick of feeling like crap really and hoping to find out the cause and solution.

Would love to hear others experiences.

Had mine removed recently after a year of similar symptoms

I do feel better

I have had a withdrawl bleed and two periods in 3ish months. Only problem is i now get bad period pains.

I had it for 3 years with no issues. Had a baby and then had another one fitted 12 months ago. My periods now last two weeks. I hate it. I want it out but appointments are like gold dust. Im not allowed time off of work for this kind of medical appointment. Trying to get an appointment in school holidays is nearly impossible.

I can only speak from personal experience and have never had the implant but I'm currently on depo.

I was very reluctant to try it because of the nightmare two years I had trying to find a pill that suited me as a teenager (taken for horrendous periods, as is the depo). They between the four that I tried gave me constant bleeding, bloating, headaches, nausea and vomiting, cramps, sore boobs, high blood pressure, spots, mood swings, food cravings, tanked my libido, made my sweat smell weird and gave me visual disturbances (probably due to the high blood pressure)

All of that being said, the hormonal contraception I'm on is like a dream. I have zero bad side effects, no periods at all, my acne has all but disappeared and my appetite (and waistline) have shrank.

So I really think it's unfortunately just a case of trial and error, and the trial periods being so unpleasantly long to give each type time to settle down.

I can 100% why some women stop trialling because the endless stream of side effects is just not worth it sometimes. If I had normal periods I would have given up trying to find something that suits ages ago. I'm just trying to avoid surgery! (thankfully might have just struck lucky)

I'm on my second one and don't have any of the issues you've mentioned.

For the oeriod pains, @ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupoftea, try magnesium ( citrate if you tend to be constipated and glycinate if you are on the looser side). I used to suffer leg cramps ( endurance cyclist) and haven't had one attack since starting magnesium. My daughter has awful period pain and she's been on it three months and doesn't need painkillers when on her period at all.m I've had a complete hysterectomy but wish I knew about it when I had period pain! It's a life changer.
