My hair is absolutely parched. Not just a bit dry, but completely bone dry. The skin on my face is dry and rough feeling too. Ots been like this for years!
Ive tried everything.
Coconut oil
Masks left on for several hours, several times a week
Cowashing
Nothing seems to make a difference.

I drink 3L of water a day and eat homecooked food. I could probably do with a little more protein and raw veg (only time I actually have a good source of protein is ky evening meal - could that be it?).

Im really at a loss what to do about it. Ots just so incredibly dry and brittle. Im 30 but have the hair of an old woman.

I do colour it but not excessively - 3 times a year I'd say.

I smoke so that may be a factor - but lots of my friends smoke and i dont see them having this problem.

I dont think it could be a thyroid thing as i have no other symptoms.

Any suggestions?!

It feels like my body isnt holding onto any moisture.

I feel thirsty and dried up despite my 3L of water a day.

I have tested for diabetes by the way, its not that.

Hi...you do need to get your thyroid checked just to be certain.
Perhaps try an omega supplement? I take boots omega 3,6,9 it's reasonably priced and they always have their 3 for 2 offers.
I have also been reading about vitamin k2 recently which is linked to hair and skin. Perhaps look up foods rich in this if you are not keen to take a supplement?
But first thing....get your thyroid checked!

With hair it takes a long time for changes in diet or health to influence hair quality. When I was in hospital I was told about 6 months, but I've seen other people say 3-4 months.

If you haven't been actively trying to I.prove the hair for more than 6 months (and sticking to things consistently rather than changing if no progress is seen in a week or two) I wouldn't be overly concerned.

Have you asked hair stylists what they think about your hair quality?

@crazyhouse123
Thank you, i will research vitamin k. And i suppose a thyroid check cant hurt, its just i literally dont have a single other symptom, no menstrual or weight issues etc.

Is fat part of your diet or are you otherwise restricting food intake?
